each time u flip the lever it turns off the signal going to the torch for a second powering the piston then the signal comes back on turning the torch off turning off the piston.
only thing recent i have done with a dual edge detector was using a light sensor, so when it turned night it triggered a dispenser to put out some water and then when it turned day it triggered the dispenser again picking the water up.

nicely done, replacing the 5th repeater (only used to control the flow of power) with a blockm i do believe has made it as compact as it will get.
