I'm trying to build an adventure map where when you walk into a castle, the gate slams shut behind you. the gate works fine, however, the system to make it work requires 12 of the 15 available units without running it down to the floor. Is there a way to extend the circuit, and if so, how?
Well, first you've got to get the largest XNOR(because bigger means better!) on the wiki, activate the B input, encircle it with fence, bedrock, lava and cakes, then spawn Mehrunes Dagon to protect it from people deactivating it. From there you just hook up your wire to the A input.
I would suggest you make a 69-bit adder with your input lead to the first bit. Make the machine already have 68 plugged in, and put a decoder afterwards. That should do it for ya.

You'll need to sacrifice something to extend the redstone input beyond the 15 block limit- something valuable. You'll have to draw a pentagram on an obsidian floor with Redstone, and sacrifice something that enjoys life... and then you need to summon Beëlzebloc.
Be careful, though. Last time I summoned him, the basterd stole my mushroom soup and burned down my melon farm.
Am I doing it right?
EDIT:
No I am not, misread. Well, the implication exists.
Can someone please explain to me How the **** this topic got so many dman answers. Lol. We started off at wondering how to use a damn repeater to summoning mosters. How the ****?
I suggest building a 16-bit computer with a 10-tick clock that has a comparator to check that RAM slot 15 (which must be the output of your trigger) is larger than 0. The computer should also have a timer that counts time in a 64-bit long, just to ensure that it does not consume the very sense of the time and space continium.
y u make it so hard? i tell easy way!
pressure plate->1 tick generator-> clock->despenser filled with eggs above room with pressure plate floor->spawn chickens onto plates->push plaver into nether portal->push out of portal in nether (portal ejector)->die in lava->spawn->player cannon into top of castle->step on plate shuting gate
