I need some advice on making a one time pressure plate activated lava waterfall with redstone. Example:
Running through a hall, you step on the pad and it has released lava which can not be stopped.
I also would like the same for a piston pushing cobblestone behind the lava wall, to prevent someone from having OK armor and charging the lava and escaping back that way. Quick replies would be appreciated(:

Hook the pressure plate up to an rs nor latch. That way the output will stay on once turned on
When the pressure plate (top) is stepped on, it lights the redstone, powering the block (yellow, bottom left), which turns off the torch attached to the side, and thus un-powers the sticky piston. The piston pulls the block in front of it to the side, allowing lava to flow (not shown).
The loop with the repeater ensures that the redstone will stay lit one it is lit- it's a feedback loop.
Make an RS NOR latch with 2 NOR gates, and have the Q NOT output cross into the R input, and the Q output cross into the S input. Have the latch in the rest condition, making Q NOT equal to 1 and Q equal to zero. Have Q connect to a piston, and the pressure plate to the set position. When they step on the plate, it will toggle.

If the op doesn't know how to do this he probably doesn't quite get a redstone set up like that.

Pistons can't push obsidian though.

I guess you're right..... :sad.gif:
Sorry, I was getting ahead of myself.
