One day i thought to myself thinking, I wonder what happens if you put a splash potion into a dispenser, will it pop it out as an item or will it actually work as a splash potion normally would.
So i tested this out, and yes! you can put any splash potion into a dispenser and upon activation it will splash onto the ground and if you're close enough, you get the effects from it.
Now im not sure if many of you know this already, but for those who don't then i guess you've learnt something very cool.
Also because of this, you could possibly setup an SMP or mob trap and get your enemies with a splash potion (such as Instant Damage II)

Now I mostly use redstone on creative.
