I'm new to a minecraft, trying to build some cool stuff.
Now, I'm playing with the redstone. After a few successfull builds via tutorials I've decided to create my own. I've build an automated sugar cane multi farm (9 block line of sugar cane, pistons, observers and rails with minecart - 4 modules of this). I have a common collecting system for all 4 modules, ending with one chest. Now, I want to be able to switch (using lever) an output from this farm to get either sugar cane or bone meal.
First, I tried one line of hoppers with a gap and two pistons pushing either another hopper or composter. Then I realized, hoppers cannot be moved via pistons. As well as droppers and chests.
Second try was a water stream dropping stuff to the hopper with a gap over the hopper to leave a place for composter beign pushed by piston. Then I realized that if you just drop compostables to the composter, i does nothing.
Pushing composter between two hoppers also did't went well because hopper doesn't dospose anything by itself without another input device.
So, now I ended up with two separate and switchable water streams going either to the hoppers and chest or to the hopper, composter, hoppers and then chest.
It's monstrous. I've decided to hide it under the grass level and, after sorting, just push it upwards using bubble elevator.
Is there a better and more elegant way to do this?
