I'm making a sound test room with columns that each represent a music file in the game (All Main, Creative, Nether, Underwater, Menu, and End music) For example, for the song "Minecraft", which is known as by the game: "calm1.ogg", a column with dirt and a command block behind it is meant to play the song when a button is pressed onto the command block. Problem is, I don't know how to specify what music file to play with the /playsound command. It lets me choose what KIND of music to play, like Creative or Nether, but it doesn't let me choose which one of the group to play, it does it randomly. So, if you press on the command block that says: /playsound minecraft:music.game player @p then it plays a random one of twelve songs you can normally hear in survival. Is there any way to specify what music file you want to hear? I know you can do it with disc records, becuase they let you specify which one there, but how do you play a specific audio file under the same category of sound?

I know this is a bit late, but as far as I can tell by messing around in singleplayer and reading the wiki, the answer unfortunately seems to be no. I also had this issue a while back, and it's pretty dumb that this is the case.

Thank you, Minecraft Forum, for providing a place for us all to gather together and discuss this great game with each other. The community built up around this place was wonderful, and I will miss logging in every day to see the latest posts on my favorite topics. If it wasn't for this site, I wouldn't be with the wonderful group I am with today nor would I have learned so much about the workings of the game and redstone. We will all miss you, and I don't think there will ever be a site quite like this one.
