I would really like to build a machine in Minecraft that cannot only learn, but that can also make assumptions based on what it has learned. This has proven to be a very difficult task even with a lot of redstone knowledge. I have found something that could simulate this but I have no idea how to start building it. If you could give me some tips in this it would be very helpful. Thanks in advance
EDIT: I forgot to tell you what it was that could simulate this. It's a neural network.
A pure redstone A.I. system would need the /forceload command. And probably lag out before significant progress is made. However, with commands, you could run a lot of stuff through when COMBINED with redstone.
You can create variables and manipulate information from the environment easily with commands. Redstone can be used as a controller/hardware. Creating software to run in pure Redstone is possible. Just very resource intensive on the game.
Not only that, but a command run A.I. system could run within an NPC or armorstand easily.
I can dedicate a server temporarily to advancing this idea. But I will need to make it whitelisted, and only for people interested, in developing this idea. We would need a Discord (Which I can provide) and great planning. But developing an A.I. is a lot of work. Would need redstone hardware engineers and command enthusiasts collaborating to get anywhere.
Many "hacks" would be made to reduce the strain on redstone/command usage.
This is the greatest idea I have ever heard using redstone/commands... I wish I could help but my skills in both those areas are crap hahahaha.

A server sounds like a great idea! Although, I don't think I will be able to be on a whole lot if I can join.

But of course, its not truly infinite...
Are you willing to use commands?
right now, yes. But I would like to move towards just redstone in the future.

Lol, says the guy lurking the redstone forum... you must have some knowledge of redstone / commands to even be wandering around here!

This is for 1.12 but...https://www.planetminecraft.com/project/albert-ai---a-self-learning-chatbot/
right now, yes. But I would like to move towards just redstone in the future.
I think /execute store and /scoreboard would be incredibly useful for this.
That's a shame since those are the two commands I am least used to.

Scoreboard is great for holding variables and "memory".
"store" is good for taking information from the environment to store into the Scoreboard.
