In my new survival realm we built a very large track to each persons house, containing stop & go points with buttons. We have also created a separate track for minecarts with chests to transfer stuff to other peoples houses without having to go all the way there. Other than slowing it down using the 1 block jump method, is there anyway we could put a timer that would stop it, wait a certain amount of time, then make it go again at peoples stops so they can run out and get the chest before it keeps rolling away to the next stop?
So as a previously completely inexperienced redstoner, I managed to come up with this simple method. I have 43 redstone passing through the hoppers.
When the cart hits the detector rail, it deactivates the redstone torch powering the hopper clock, deactivates the powered rails to stop the cart, and and triggers the timer for about 15 seconds (of course, controlled by the amount of redstone.)
After 15 seconds, that powered rails reactivate, and the cart rolls down the incline to provide momentum and continues on.
