I've built a farm for wither skeletons with a wither skeleton spawner on a server. I'm attempting to filter out the wither skulls, coal, and bones, while sending stone swords through a dropper into lava. For the most part, this is working fine, but for whatever reason the bones seem to occasionally skip over their filter and into the dropper. I'm not sure how to fix this despite several attempts, so any solutions would be great. Also, the server is vanilla-esque, no plugins that should be interfering with the redstone.
No, not that I've seen anyway. It seems to just be bones, presumably had to do with being last on the line. I could swap them with the coal and see what happens tomorrow if you think that would help.

Is that all the redstone you have in the area, or is there more above or under ground? I'd like to know becuase it would help me not accidentally messing up your contraption by using trial and error
Edit: And if you think thats the issue, than go for it and try it out.
Just make sure to disable your mob farm first, or other automated items to prevent malfunctions.
There's nothing too close by, definitely nothing close enough to interfere. I did try swapping them, and the same issue happens with the coal. So it's something to do with the last part of the line in particular. It's as if half of them go through the filter properly, while half skip over it.
This is just a guess but, maybe the redstone signal could be interfering with the other hoppers and shat I mean by that is;
With compartors, they can recieve a redstone output from chests, hoppers, or anything that stores items (Minus Shulker Boxes, and Ender Chests as of 1.11)
Try adding three more redstone to the back of the contraption, that MIGHT help make it functional and not interfere with the other hoppers inputs & outputs, it seems like you have some repeaters right under the comparters to activate something.
As stupid as it sounds i'd try it just incase,
If that doesn't work could you link to the tutorial you found?

Hey you! Hi
(also rip Pixelized Project, the dream could have came true if the whole team weren't kids :P.)
It's based on this design, with modifications for the item entry and exit of course. This has worked well for me in the past, I've only started having issues when implementing the disposal instead of a junk chest.
Well, if you don't care about making another junk chest. I would highly recommend making that other chest, and link it to hoppers below the farm that eventually fall into lava.
Something I also found is that you forgot to make your repeater (the one next to that comparator on top.) set on one tick, I don't know if you made that intentional or not but the reason the guy in the tutorial set it on one tick was to prevent burn out with the redstone, and having problems with the sorting systems becoming jammed.
Just click the repeater once and I think it should be fixed, but if its not fixed still go for the other method above.
If it still doesn't work, make sure to re-check everything, hoppers, redstone components, so fourth becuase everything should be working normally.

Are any of the other items dropping accidentally into the lava, like the skulls or coal? Or is it just the bones?

Yeah, the tutorial I used for this design had them facing away from the comparators. Turning them around seems to have fixed it.Thanks!Edit: My mistake. It seemed to fix it, but I was clearly wrong, as now the same thing is happening again.
