I have an absolutely massive egg farm, which not only is eating up tons of storage space, but is blocking up my main hopper lines from my farms. However, they all pass through a hub that has a few filters and I thought it would be a good idea to filter eggs and dedicate them their own hopper line to give them more room. However, I quite honestly don't know how to create it due to stacks of 16. Anybody have any solutions?
Could you not just run the eggs farm line around the entire sorting line and to their own chests?
If there are no solutions, then yes. It's just a pain because their storage is much further than the hub. If I connect it to the hub, it could filter the eggs and eventually they will make it to their own chests (the hub is connected to the storage system already.) Running the line around would mean at least another stack of hoppers and a whole lot of time. I was really going for cheaper solutions, but if there are none, then I will use your idea and just run it around.

Just curious. Why do you need that many eggs? What you do with them? A double chest full of eggs is enough for most players. But more? And such a huge farm is a potential lag maker.
Right now, I want to attach it to a bunker. However, I also plan to hook it up to a chicken farm and a bakery, and between the three, I need quite a lot (though not as many as I currently make.)
To anyone reading this after the fact, don't do 1 per stack because when it fills up completely and starts sucking items out again it will leave empty slots breaking your sorting system. In actual fact stacks of 16 are weighted the same as stacks of 64 so you want 10 eggs in the first slot instead of 41, but honestly anyone could have figured that out by just putting 1 egg in and letting it run.
Name a stack of items and put 10 of each in the other 4 slots of the top hopper. Then the hopper will release the bottom one at 5 items rather than 41.
Sorry to contribute to a dead bumped thread, but Ilmango recently made a design with NopeName (I think) that makes a storage system that stacks up to 16.

Ah, I see.... What sorting system are you using?
It uses the same design as
Let me know if you need specifics.

Put 1 egg per hopper slot.
This is what works on mine.
As for what to do with more eggs, I'm not so sure - which is why I now have about 20 double chests full - I just cant bear to throw anything away.
Well apart from eggs, in someones base in the hope of filling it with chickens
