When I vertically put two sticky piston together(facing horizontal direction) and power them, under special conditions they can't retract.
As far as I tested, here are some conditions to trigger off the bug:
1. the location of the pistons, the bug occurs at just few locations.
2. no block update. the piston will keep extend even power off but will retract when the adjacent block updating.
That's known as a BUD switch, http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/index.php?title=Tutorials/Quasi-connectivity&redirect=no
wich is not a bug, its a feature used to stop the old sand duplication glitch.
