I like the lapis change because I didn't want to grind for hours or build an xp farm just to get a couple enchants. I prefer to spend some of my time mining and wasn't doing much with lapis anyway. Now this it gives another use to lapis and it allows me to enchant more without making it too easy (I still have to hit the minimum to get the best enchants). I call that a win win.
I like how you can make 5 threads about the same thing. First you have the guy who first posts a lot of information about the subject, then you have a thread with 'I have a video of it', then you have one 'I hate this feature' then 'I love this feature' and the 'What do you think about it'. Oh yeah, I forgot the 'How would you change it' thread.
I don't really like it despite the fact i have more than enough lapis to accommodate to this change. On the one hand only needing to spend 3 levels for a high tier enchant seems pretty OP to me. I've never stuggled to get to lvl 30 xp through the course of normal gameplay. On the other, even though i have an abundance of lapis, the idea of needing to use a non renewable resource for enchanting feels a little expensive.
I know for most minecrafters lapis was a completely useless resource, but i like it as a building block. Not that i use large amounts of it, but in the right build, especially anything incorporating water, it is quite a nice block. That and blue fire works.
I don't mind it that much, it just seems kind of random. Lapis has never before been shown to have any magical properties so the only reasoning I can see behind it is just to give lapis another use, which just seems silly.
Takes a pretty good chunk out of the need for a dark room mob traps, they're only real usefulness now is for copious amounts of gun powder and ender eyes if you add that feature. still can grind for arrows and bones from skelly dungeons.
I personally would rather see them expanding the game, then trying to completely change the way some of us play the game - but this is the hand we're dealt.
I just don't understand why lapis can't be optional, only used for making the enchanting better, or enabling / disabling seeing the enchant you will get... Seems like a no brainer to have it that way, surely people will still want to use lapis that way.
Until now I've kind of ignored Lapis on mining expeditions, unless it was in my way digging a tunnel (then I would get all of it cause I'm OCD like that) so I'm sure if I revisit some of my older mines, I'd have a ready supply of it in no time. Sides, I ALREADY have a full stack and a half stack of Lapis block so I think I'm good regardless.
