After the horrific disappointment that was the "Horse Update," you've come out with something the community has sorely missed since Beta 1.7.3 - amazing landscape.
The breathtaking, awe-inspiring and often physics-defying landmarks that could be found commonly pre-1.7.3 Beta were taken away with 1.8 Beta. Now, an entire game version later, we have at least some of that back. In most of the new Extreme Hills/Extreme Hills+ biomes, I find huge overhangs and ridiculous landmarks which I've seen videos and pictures of from Beta, but never seen personally. All I can say is thank you, Mojang.
What was so honorifically disappointing about the horse update?
PS: Finally a good thread about 1.7!!!

Well, it's more that horses were a completely unnecessary and typical addition to the game. Virtually every game out there has horses in it, and MC already had pigs to do that for us.
I don't care if there's lag issues and chunk loading issues, we have amazing landscape back and that's all I care about. And I love the Roofed Forests, too.
Considering the way biomes are positioned and there are thousands a blocks worth of traveling now, horses were a necessary addition especially after 1.7.
You're joking, right? I can think of 3 games off the top of my head that have horses in it. You seem to thing that saying that every game has horses in it automatically makes it true, without any source whatsoever. Unless you're counting the barbie horse training games, barely any games have horses in them.
From the title of this topic, I could've sworn this was going to be a complaint thread.
1.7 definitely has to be my favorite update in a long time. I love the terrain, biome transitions, boat controls, bugfixes, optimizations, and prerequisites for plugin API.
I've got a world I've been building on for over a year, and with this update now, the sixteen-some-odd square kilometers of terrain already explored are surrounded by 'walls' of the new terrain generation.
I was hoping there would be a more seamless blend from the old to the new, but...heavy sigh... I like the new stuff, just wished it meshed with my existing world a bit better. I probably have 20 or 30 miles of giant abrupt cliffs in perfectly straight lines all around my little world now that I'm gonna have to deal with.
...on the other hand, I do still have lots of ocean with more than just gravel underneath it....LOL!
Horses have to be one of the best thins to add to the game, pigs are absolutely useless. The only way I could see people really complaining about the horses is if the pigs were just as easy to ride and use.
They aren't.
Plus Attributes are awesome to mess around with and new effects can be applied to potions. I help out with the lore and such on my server and I have to say that any potion applied effect added is always good. (I use commands to add effects to potions, I know health boost isn't brewable)
1.7 is pretty great too, and I get to explore all these new features on my horse.
