I'm playing on a world I started at the release of Aplha 1.2.0. Also called the Halloween Update.
I don't get a lot of those chunk error problems because I don't explore a whole lot. I find new areas and biomes by moving though the Nether and making portals to the overworld. This creates "islands" of chunks in the overworld that are far apart from each other with none of those chunk problems. Each island is about 2048x2048 blocks and I stay within that until I want to find new biomes again.
Id like to stick with the1.6 world i currently have but am thinking i might miss out on alot of the features such as new biomes but not generating a new world on 1.7. Only time will tell
Yup for 1.7 I'm making a new world. I've been playing on my current world since 1.2, time for a new world. I never delete my old worlds though, still have my very first from way back in beta
It is looking more and more like I will do both. Meaning that I'm playing around with the snapshot and an Amped up world. Wile I like the Amped generation I'm not about to graft that onto my existing world. I think it would look horrible.
That being said. What I think I'll do with my existing world (3 years old) is get out MCedit and chop out a lot of unused chunks, make a bigger ocean, then let the games new generator start filling in chunks beyond that again like normal. I'm hopeing that will soften the giant walls of chunk borders and blend it in nice. If it does not in places I want to inhabit I'll just use an in game editor like Voxel Sniper or World edit and fix the mess.
When that is all done I'll link the two worlds together through a portal and be done.
I just made a wolrd in 1.7 snapshots, amplifed world... and it has very large structures. The Mesa biome is my home, and it has so much clay it is practicallyinfintite. So I'm deleting my old world, and starting new.
I really don't want to start a new world, but I'm pretty sure that I will. I have explored a bunch in my existing 1.6 world and so the only way I'd see the new biomes would be to travel ridiculously far from my home. I am really digging the Savanna biome and would love to build my new base in one! The downside is that I've built so much in my current world. >.< Meh...I'll prolly suck it up and start anew when 1.7 is released.
