I agree the randomness is nice. But the new flowers don't fit the environment at all you really cant say that look good can you?!
I'm willing to discuss as long as it ends in "It will be tweaked" or "your right". I know that's a very one sided way of thinking but everything in this update is so wrong and so unneeded that I cant not look at it that way.
I think the new flowers look fine. You probably just need to adjust. Having lots of popping colors in the terrain is pretty different right now, so it's an adjustment you'll have to make.
As with everything else in the past, when new stuff is added to the game it looks alien or out of place, but quickly blends into the base aesthetic. Biomes were not always a part of the game, and neither were spruce or birch trees, but today they are universally accepted as Minecrafty. Just give it time.
I started a new world after grabbing the snapshot and spawned in Savannah Plateau, on top of a gargantuan cliff edge. Two words: Holy grandpa.
I have not even remotely explored all the new stuff, but my only problem so far is that the Savannah jungle trees drop oak sapling. This really should be a new tree type, doesn't have to use new wood type but I would like to be able to regrow them.
The only thing from the OP I agree with is that the new flowers feel a bit out of place and like a mod... but you could say the same thing for almost anything that has been added to minecraft since it's official release, because almost every possibility has been done already as a mod. Even if the flowers seem a bit strange now, I do like the added variety and soon you will get used to them and they'll feel vanilla like horses are already starting to do and pistons have for a long time, even though both ideas came from very popular mods that people wanted to be added to the game.
1. The snow on mountains definitely needs to be raised, which i'm sure they will do.
2. The new flowers do seem a little wrong, maybe because they pretty much look like the flowers from any biome-adding mod. If these flower we in Minecraft from the start then i'm sure they'd look normal. In my opinion though, the flowers should be left to mods and the original Rose and Yellow Flower should stay. (I like the sunflower idea though)
3. Some of the new biomes are a bit useless, though I feel they are in the right direction of making worlds unique, back in 1.7 I used to love starting up new worlds and finding different places to build my house, but ever since 1.8 each world feels like i've just started up the same world but all my stuff is gone. I like the Clay Canyon biome, I feel that is very useful especially with the addition of hardened clay. I like what they did with swamps, but it feels kind of opposite from real swamps (more water, less land), and the water needs to be darker for sure.
4. If what you said about the animals is true, then I can agree because animals shouldn't be a walk in the park to get. That is way too easy. I mean, cows are used for some of the more endgame things, and if they are going to be everywhere then that kind of ruins it.
5. I checked out the sugar cane texture and didn't like it very much either. Sugar canes (or "reeds' as I called them being an old minecraft player) used to have a very unique color to them. But with the new update all they are is just green, and they blend too much with everything else in the game.
I understand where you are coming from saying all these things, I can agree about the whole "too much snow" issue, but with a few adjustments I think this update could become something we can enjoy.
hahaha, great try at a troll but this update is just too good! Of course you can have complaints (I really, really miss the ocean) but things look *so* much better and there is *so* much new stuff and variety added that overall it's a tremendous improvement. Also, I haven't seen any bugs yet (I downloaded after the ninja fix to mesa plateau) and considering how much was added and the rumors of major rewrite that's a great accomplishment for Dinnerbone and Jeb!
This update is absolute garbage minecraft has been getting worse and worse because of Dinnerbone and Jeb everyone blindly just likes the updates.

1. Hopefully, If not the Modding community will do it. Its too big to not pay attention to.
2. Agreed, I like the Sunflower as well.
3. Agreed but I'd be totally fine with a revert on swamps.
4. Agreed.
5. Agreed once more.
I'm not going to argue or anything, I'm just here to share my 2 cents, but I really would like to know your opinion on anvils, strongholds, BOTH bosses, enchanting...and well, pretty much everything ever added to the game after it was initially created and playable. The only reason I've seen in your entire topic is that "it's unnecessary". Literally ever single thing added on to the base game was unnecessary. The only thing they add is life, and that's exactly what this snapshot did. I truly don't understand why you would cry over life being added to the game.

It would be nice if that life had unique mobs in it.

Yea, same here. I would assume they have some ideas for new mobs, but that's probably extremely hard to do, as they have to come up with a way to introduce them, as well as make them feel "Minecrafty". It would probably be a huge mistake to just throw a bunch of random mobs at the players and hope for the best.

I likes having the simple rose flower, i agree that the birch forest and flowers look modded, i wish the birch trees at-least had a little bit of variation. Not disappointed with the update though.

Yes. If they're going to add mobs, they're going to have to find a creative way to add them.
"Ooo majestic" not "Ooo I want to kill my self all I see is snow every second and I hate snow everyone hates snow in Minecraft"/
A few comments...
- Don't make gross assumptions like that, because what you said is an impossibility. Not everyone hates snow in Minecraft. Don't let your own biases, likes and dislikes affect content that vast arrays of people are receiving and enjoy.
- Nothing about that statement is mature and it's actually quite offensive to a degree.
- If something like snow in a sandbox video game actually affects you to such a degree, contact myself or others for help options. If not and it was just a hyperbole, grow the hell up.
Every one hates new updates and the other half just wants them. what I said is in bold
Currently, I hate a majority of the additions and here's my list of what and why:
1. Birch Forests, For what ever reason they feel all kinda of wrong something about them is ugly. Well jesh, its about time you noticed those tree's were not the prettiest. If you were playing mineccraft when they were added im sure you would raged then like you are angry now.
2. The new flowers make Vanilla Minecraft feel modded, they don't look natural to the game environment in the slightest. I've been strict to saying only Vanilla no Texture Packs but this is the last Straw I no longer like how vanilla minecraft looks and I'll have to make a
Texture Pack that fixes it. Yes, it does but they also do fit in the game. Its about time we got a new flower or more.
3. Snow starts too low on mountains but its probably because the size of mountains are just hills. Push the Snow start to 200 so when you find it its "Ooo majestic" not "Ooo I want to kill my self all I see is snow every second and I hate snow everyone hates snow in Minecraft" Snow is slightly low, ask them on twitter to raise it to 100 instead of 80 then complaining about it in a forum thread. 200 would hve little affect if you were not in a non amplified world, meaning that feature would be worthless.
4. The textures for the new fish look like they were made by a 2 year old. You try making some in paint or what ever, its not easy.
5. The new texture for the Sugar Cane is ugly. Just cut and dry... ugly. I like it. I think its weird but not something to hate
6. The new texture for the red flower which is now a different flower is horrible. The red flower actually looks better in this snap shot. they made it have more color and life.
7. The roofed forest is horrible all it is is a cluster of trees a giant mushrooms. And how do you propose we change this rather saying it is horrible. I was a little disappointed when I first seen it, personally I think it needs some Taller tree's and a darker floor.
8. The swamp biome clashes with its water so bad that its uglier than it was before. Have you seen a pretty swamp?
9. If you haven't changed mob spawns the world gen has made animals spawn so much more that its just bad, your making the game too easy Mojang please stop it. 1.0 made it way too easy in the first place don't do this to us again. Animal spawn seems the same. there is just more land so it puts more. even then its hard.
Overall, you really should of not posted this thread. Instead of saying you hate it, please post things you don't like and propose how to change it. I think your a person who does not like change. You rather let the game stay in its roots saying, it has to be this, it is not subject to change. Well, many people like these updates. I lost my train of though, Anyways, just Make constructive criticism.
We are the true fans. You are the cult following that mindlessly likes anything Jeb puts out just like how COD fans mindlessly buy COD when each one comes out.
im playing this and i have to say its tons better than the 1.0 terrain.
I actually like the birch forest! the flowers are ok, but the only
one i have a problem with is the vivid blue orchids in the swamp biome...
they just dont match and are kind of ugly, plus they took snow out
of the taiga biome, but i know they will re-add it sooner or later before
the official relsease.
Its only the first snapshot, so of course it may be bad at first, but its a MAJOR improvement.
Wait a little until they officially release it and fix the bugs, because so far, i like it.

click it, i dare you. Oh! This hat that I am wearing is NOT white hair! No, my name is not Ash Ketchum
This is highly subjective observation behalf of the original poster.
Meanwhile, I agree that some flowers and other items deserve texture rework.
It's not surprising some items will get improved textures.
Remember, charcoal, lapis block, gravel block got new textures recently?

Don't like reeds, or new soil block texture.
Yes. If they're going to add mobs, they're going to have to find a creative way to add them.

That is all.
- Jungles and deserts no longer spawn
- The ocean ground.... I mean wtf? Why gravel?
- Why are the biomes have all wrong names in the F3?.....
Also Don't forget to click the green button that is showing a sign that is facing up!

Those are the only two I slightly agree with.
Birch forests I think look okay but would be much better with snow imo.
The only thing I really really agree with is that the sugar cane texture pack looks ugly. It seems dull and life less lol.
But yeah...... other than that most of the stuff you say I don't agree with.
