You have always been able to fly higher than the build limit.
I see. Did not know that. I don't use creative mode normally.

Humanity is the creation of Logic and Emotion, Calculation and Imagination, Cold Analysis and Blind Faith. This is why I believe it is a strange Human that would prize one while shunning the other. For a calculator can do math just as well as you, but a calculator can not use math to make the world a better place.
I don't know if anyone has reported on this already, but the dungeons have been massively expanded too. We stumbled accross a huge network of tunnels with mossy bricks, jail cells and even a library.
I was running Dokucraft for some of it, and switched to original to get a better idea of what vanilla would look like. Creative mode is on so that we could zip through the biomes and see what was new.
Could this be a new feature of 1.7, or just amplified?
This is your first post, so I'm not sure if you're trolling or just new. Assuming the latter, this has been a feature for quite a long time. It's called a stronghold. Generally three spawn per world. Each has an unfinished end portal that, when finished, leads you to the end dimension.
I hope to god this is a bug. My "perfect librarian" now has 9 trading slots. I previously had a trade for an enchanted book in the list, and now I have another one! I don't think I will update if I have to find the perfect trading villagers again because of increasing villager trades. Imagine if this happens to the blacksmith....
I like Amplified, but I hope they can include it in the default and large biomes gens is very rare quantities as well. (Maybe not the floating islands, but the height itself at least).
I also noticed another odd thing, I spawned in a world near a savannah biome, but near a mountain biome. The world there on the edge seemed a lot like the Amplified world generation. I will post seed, more info, and an image later.
Well, I started with two of the new variant biomes in sight, the Sunflower Plains and Roofed Forest. (The latter in two little bits.) The new flowers are nice...
But my favorite feature is FPS WIN!
In 1.6, my frame rate was so bad I had to install Optifine to get (usually) up to 20 FPS. Obviously Optifine's not caught up with 1.7 yet, but I tried the snapshot anyway, and whaddya know, I'm getting 20 and 30 FPS even without it!

I did some CraftTweaker scripts for Mystical Agriculture. They fill in a couple of small gaps in MA, and also let you make or duplicate not only vanilla plants, but the blocks, plants and wood from Quark and Biomes O'Plenty. Also spawn eggs for most vanilla mobs! The scripts are here on Github.
The change about fishing I like most are the bubble trails fish produces when it approaches the bait. This gives you a much better chance for a good timing than staring with a triggerfinger, or randomly reeling the bait in.

That's a feature, not a bug.
