About the name tags and saddles:
"What might be good for the individual multiplayer player, might not be good for the individual SMP player, or a whole gaming community."
To all the complainers out there: DEAL WITH IT
Mojang doesn't have to take this crap from you. They made the game and if you don't like what they're doing, you can just uninstall and never look back. They don't even have to develop the game for you ungrateful brats anymore. They're rich and they can just focus all their work on Scrolls.
You can refer back to my first post in this topic if all you want to say is 'Deal with it." It's seriously a wonder how people don't read through a topic before posting. News flash, you aren't the first person in this topic to say "deal with it," and I've already said why that "argument" (if you can even call it one) is pointless and does not contribute to anything.
Here's a few more quick facts for you: We have a right to our own opinions too. We're players of this game and customers of Mojang for buying their product. We have a right to say what we want about it. And Mojang kind of does need to listen to its community if it wants to continue its success, every good company listens to their consumers/audience. That's how they keep making money.
Also, no, they don't have to develop the game anymore if they don't want to. But that just means Minecraft will eventually grow old and die out as more and more players get tired/bored of it without any new content or bug fixes. That also means Mojang will lose it's biggest money maker. Updates keep Minecraft appealing, and contribute to it's growing number of players and sales. If they don't want to update, fine, but ultimately it's a lose for them more than it is for the player.
By the way, they're rich because we, the community, spent our money on their game. And that'd be a real smart move for Mojang to focus entirely on Scrolls, a game that doesn't have half the success of Minecraft.
Now, next time, please post an opinion of yours that is supported by facts if you want to discuss the purpose of this topic, instead of a rant in which you call everyone an "ungrateful brat."

Yes, you have the right to express your opinion. However, when there are 250+ threads of the SAME TOPIC, it starts to get annoying.

I'm tentatively in favor of the new hunger, especially if they moderate it a bit more in the next release. Basically, food was OP before, aggravated by the new crops, and not nerfed that much by the bonemeal nerf. This gives a reason to acquire and carry large amounts of food.
The Golden Apple nerf got a buff in exchange, though perhaps not enough.
If they've for-real fixed the animals wandering through fences, I can forgive them a lot for that!
That said, zombies have gone from butt-monkey to OP menace. I'm seriously considering dropping down from Hard to Normal mode, mostly because of them. Powering-up and summoning friends (into "safe" areas, apparently) when they get hurt? Along with those zippety baby zombies? Not Cool.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I did some CraftTweaker scripts for Mystical Agriculture. They fill in a couple of small gaps in MA, and also let you make or duplicate not only vanilla plants, but the blocks, plants and wood from Quark and Biomes O'Plenty. Also spawn eggs for most vanilla mobs! The scripts are here on Github.
Just because you have the right to voice your opinion doesn't mean you need to scream it everywhere, Mojang knows about the bugs and they are trying to fix them, Mojang knows that you hate the new hunger system and that you think it is wrong just because you hate it when the game is hard, and they don't care because you are all acting like whiny little brats. Mojang doesn't need to take this crap.
You want Mojang to listen to you? Then don't post things like the OP did. Look at the issues without bias and use logic. For instance, the OP was crying about horse armor and name tags only being found in dungeon chests, just because you are scared of cracking open a little room with a wimpy monster spawner doesn't mean Mojang needs to cater to you only and make the game ridiculously easy where you can just hid in your little hole and craft everything you need. And what he said about the hunger system! Do you have any idea how easy it is to get food in minecraft? Making health regen take up food points make a lot of sense and it really doesn't change how long your food supplies will last.
THEY ALSO FIXED THE SPRINTING BUG THE DAY THE OP POSTED THIS.
I could talk forever about the flaws in this post, but I won't.
Please, continue. I'd love to hear more about the "flaws" in my post. A post which did not contain my own personal opinons about the new changes (and all you discussed was the new changes), but was a response to someone who was talking about this thoughts on the community's response to the 1.6 update. I don't believe I ever mentioned the new hunger system, or horse armor, or nametags. I also don't believe I made a post similar to the OP's. So you're really way off the mark right there.
I do want to discuss about what you said on making the new material dungeon loot. The main concern among the community with saddles, horse armor, etc. not being craftable is not because they don't want to find a dungeon, like you tried to make it seem. This shows you don't even understand the other side's stance. It's because getting those items will be extremely difficult in SMP servers, or maps where generated structures are off (plenty of servers turn them off to prevent mob farms and looting). It also makes the horse somewhat useless. What use is a horse if you can't get the supplies needed to use it?
I also find it highly amusing that you posted in bold, "look at the issues without bias and use logic." Perhaps you should take your own advice, since the majority of your argument is completely opinion based and does not use any real facts and made-up scenarios (such as the dungeon one).
Another thing is, the OP mentions several times that the addtions are only tedious. That doesn't necessarily mean they are difficult or a real challenge. Hunger for example. When you do have a large supply in the later game, it becomes only a nuisance and not a real challenge. Again, you seem to not understand that is the argument the other side is making. Not that food is hard to get. (Saying food is easy to get is another example of an opinion in your argument, which is filled with many).
"...you are all acting like whiny little brats. Mojang doesn't need to take this crap."
Hmmm, where have I heard this before? Please, if you're going to resort to name-calling and not "look at the issues without bias and use logic," then maybe you shouldn't post
Yes, you have the right to express your opinion. However, when there are 250+ threads of the SAME TOPIC, it starts to get annoying.
If there were not so many problems with this update, there would be a lot less topics. I said earlier (in my first post I think) that I recognize a lot of topics on 1.6 problems have been made, but that shows that Mojang has some work to do which they need to solve as soon as they can since their community is not content. Keeping your audience/customers happy is a policy of any good company. If you put out a bad product, and bad response is only to be expected.
I understand why you may be annoyed, but like I said, it brings attention to an important issue that must be solved.
Like I said to the others, you paid at most 24 USD one time. You can learn to deal with it and stop acting as though everyone is sitting on their ass not constantly developing content for your precious addiction.
I can see someone didn't refer back to my first post when I said "deal with it" is not an effective argument. Please do so and give a reasonably thought out opinion that you'd like to share. If not, then don't post. We don't need you to be the third person to say "deal with it", which you currently are.
I personally think that all these changes were totally necessary. Nerfing the golden apples was mainly for the UHC players on Mindcrack, to make UHC a lot harder for them. The new zombie AI was a blessing. Zombies are finally a lot more challenging and you can get a lot more xp from them considering how many their are. I am also glad that horse armor, and nametags can only be found in dungeons as well. The reason that Mojang added that in was to make the game more difficult. Think about it, if you could craft things like saddles, nametags, horse armor, music discs, than there would be less of a reason to go find a dungeon. I would get bored of the game a lot faster if EVERYTHING was craftable. Another reason why they took craftable saddles away and put horse armor in dungeons was to nerf horses. Many people were complaining about how OP horses were so they nerfed it. I like the nerf because it makes finding horses a lot more worth it.
>only have fun the way we intend you to
I have ~20 horses and only 2 name tags. This is ridiculous. Minecraft is a barren wasteland and 'exploring' is utterly boring and tedious. I don't want to mine at y50 or run around looking for temples for 24+ hours, to get ~50 saddles, ~20 sets of each horse armor and >20 nametags.
Not making things craftable to try and force players to 'explore' your awfully generated world that only serves as a backdrop to the actual BUILDING game is the epitome of poor game design. Horse armor and nametags shouldn't be like Runescape Barrows loot, they're not God items, or even useful remotely useful endgame items.
@Creeper
gj, you have 0 name tags after 1 hour.
@LaughingCarrot
Now regeneration costs hunger/saturation.
1. How is is ridiculous that you have to WORK to get what you want. Yes they are rare but with your logic it seems that ores should be handed to you in survival. There is a suggestion where villagers could offer such items as trades and I think that would be a good idea. If you really want a lot of name tags just give yourself some from creative -.- Even then I'm sure they could be made more common in the future.
2. Yes the terrain may be a barren wasteland (as an opinion with the majority) but "exploring being utterly boring and tedious suggests that maybe Minecraft survival isn't for you. Are you saying that if the terrain is better you would accept this or even if it was better the idea of such items requiring that you explore the world in "survival" would still be bad?
3. They may not be "god" items but they do serve a niche purpose that isn't VITAL for survival. They are luxury items that still require effort (& luck) to get.
4. To be honest one hour isn't really that long and maybe you are just unlucky/bad at searching.
5. Food should be very plentiful by the time you can afford to make regeneration potions or golden apples
Why should all these be catered to the UHC? huh? People always say these changes cater to everybody, not the 1% percent. (being the UCH players.)
I personally think that all these changes were totally necessary. Nerfing the golden apples was mainly for the UHC players on Mindcrack, to make UHC a lot harder for them.
Given that UHC is a mod, these changes will have no effect on said mod... especially since that mod does away with regeneration potions entirely, and the glistering melon recipe requires a gold block, not eight gold nuggets.
These changes to the healing recipes are for a long requested optional game rule change: turning off natural regeneration. Before, the only way to turn off natural regeneration, outside of a mod of course, was to deliberately starve yourself. Personally, I doubt I'll ever play with natural regeneration turned on again.
Why should all these be catered to the UHC? huh? People always say these changes cater to everybody, not the 1% percent. (being the UCH players.)
How often do you use golden apples and health potions normally? I hardly ever used them if I was allowing myself to heal naturally. About the only time I've ever carried a health potion, let alone a golden apple, was... was... well, never. I have a hard time seeing how this "nerf" affects the average Minecraft player.
Please, continue. I'd love to hear more about the "flaws" in my post. A post which did not contain my own personal opinons about the new changes (and all you discussed was the new changes), but was a response to someone who was talking about this thoughts on the community's response to the 1.6 update. I meant the op, not what you said. You know that, you just want to aggravate me.
I do want to discuss about what you said on making the new material dungeon loot. It also makes the horse somewhat useless. What use is a horse if you can't get the supplies needed to use it?
Getting those items in SMP is quite easy, and how is it Mojangs problem that a server doesn't want people making mob farms? Abandoned mineshafts and dungeons are part of minecraft and honestly if someone finds a zombie dungeon and makes an XP farm that isn't going to make them the most powerful person. Look at the opposite side, if you could craft everything you need for horses, then why go exploring at all? I mean there is the spawner aspect, and the cool generation aspect, but without the new horse loot raiding dungeons isn't all that beneficial. You get a bit of bread, some redstone, and a bucket, maaaaaybe a record, but it's quite rare. Also what do you mean by "looting"?
I also find it highly amusing that you posted in bold, "look at the issues without bias and use logic." Perhaps you should take your own advice, since the majority of your argument is completely opinion based and does not use any real facts and made-up scenarios (such as the dungeon one).
My argument uses plenty of real facts, and real scenarios. Monster spawners are wimpy, you can easily run in and light it within a second and kill off the 2 mobs that managed to spawn all without losing more than 3 hearts, and to lower that number down to 0 all you need to do is tunnel under the dungeon, take the loot from the chests, and place torches under the chests and the spawner. I do realize that I am not without bias, but when you compare my post to the OP, you realize that he used a lot more bias than me.
None of the additions are tedious, getting a good supply of food is no harder or tedious than it was before. There is almost a 100% chance of there being animals around your spawn, and if there isn't, then you throw out the world and make a new one, not that hard. And how is having a huge supply of food a nuisance? That has nothing to do with any of the arguments I stated or the OP stated. Raiding dungeons is not tedious, it's a simple matter as I explained above, and if we want to argue that finding a dungeon is tedious then first we have to remember that all you have to do to find a dungeon is go mining for awhile.
"...you are all acting like whiny little brats. Mojang doesn't need to take this crap."
Hmmm, where have I heard this before? Please, if you're going to resort to name-calling and not "look at the issues without bias and use logic," then maybe you shouldn't post
There was no bias there, even a totally unbiased judge would say that they are being whiny.

Saddles can be traded from villagers, which means you can make your own village by curing zombies . All other items like horse armor and nametags are essentially luxury items ( in a sense that they are not needed to successfully ride a horse ).
If you won't explore or build a village to get saddles then I say you're kind of lazy.
I do want to discuss about what you said on making the new material dungeon loot. 1. "getting those items will be extremely difficult in SMP servers"
Let me tell you, if you're on a competitive survival server then yes of course it will be difficult that's the way it is. If you're on a community type server where everyone is like in one group or something then share I guess.
Servers are very flexible and adaptable in what they can do. The server owner has to decide whether let things stay the way they are or adapt such as:
Just because a server or person chooses to disable such things doesn't justify adding a vanilla recipe. Like I said before the server can adapt in this case they could use a mod to add a recipe.
Also you can get saddles from trading with villagers and you don't even need generated structures on! Just cure two zombie villagers and start your own village.
The world does not accommodate for you or a group of people. This still applies in the gaming industry as it can not please everyone.
