You are simply incorrect. It is the new launcher that is causing the problems because it tries to run with the wrong graphics processor. You even state that you don't know what we mean by graphics processor, so if you don't know what we're talking about then don't
try to correct us, especially if you literally just said you don't know what we're talking about.
Ok... It's not the launcher.. Nor is it anything Mojang has specifically changed in MC that has brought about this issue.. What's happened is that the structure of minecrafts directories have changed, what the "executable" is called, upgraded the graphics library (lwjgl) and made MC need at least OpenGL 2 now. There was a time when people with NVidia cards had the same issue.. They had to go into the NVidia control panel and set it up so that when javaw was run, the dedicated NVidia card would be used instead of any integrated video... Then NVidia added minecraft to their internal list and people didn't have to do that anymore... Given the change in structure and the updated graphics library, the issue has come back up.
It's commendable that you're trying to help people. Eventually NVidia will probably update their drivers again to include the changed minecraft etc although now that the "executable" will change it's name with each version, I'm not sure how they'll go about doing that.
They could still have Nvidia, they just have the "Run with graphics processor" option turned off, because it is an option if you go into the Nvidia Control Panel. He can go to his Start menu, and search for Nvidia Control Panel, and it will pop up and he can change his default processor from there
While true that they have to enable that option, I've seen a couple people say they had to reboot before it actually showed up in the menu.
Intel HD 4000 here as well. It worked fine before the new launcher.
You should try getting the absolute latest drivers from the intel download site. MC now requires at least OpenGL 2.. Plus, there have been some issues with older versions of the intel drivers not working right with OpenGL.
Same happens to me i have a brand new i7 processor, intel core, and its windows 8.I used to be able to have skype open. run a server, record and have the highest settings and still have 30 fps. I now have nothing open and my settings at lowest and run 10 or below mojang fix this now!!
i'm having a lot of lags since I downloaded the new launcher. Can someone tell me how do I fix that? Here's my specs:
Intel® Core™ i5-3330 CPU @ 3.00 GHz
8Gb RAM
Windows 8 64bit
Graphic card : Intel® HD Graphics 2500
Before the new launcher, I had 60+ FPS, but now, I have around 8 FPS
A LOT of people are having trouble with their Intel GPU.. Only thing I can recommend is installing the absolute latest drivers directly from the intel site.. Older versions of the intel drivers have had issues with OpenGL support and MC now requires at least OpenGL 2.

If you don't have a Navida graphic card use a dedicated graphic card if you don't have that then that's beyond me sorry I only have Navida I don't know any other ways to do it
Yesterday with the old laucnher it ran perfectly fine even with 128x texture pack it ran fine no lag good frame rate. Today with the new launcher im lagging so bad i join my world and i just lag my FPS drops to 8 and thats on vanilla. I already messed with video settings and it doesnt make a difference. What can i do, or im I just f*****?
Did you have optifine before? Maybe it's the lack of optifine and other performance mods like mcpatcher?
Strange, I don't get any lag or so, it runs fine at 300 fps
*edit* did you guys already try closing the launcher after the game starts? because it stays open
Yeah, I believe it's a bug with the new launcher not running well with integrated graphics cards. I don't have NIVIDA or anything just a simple Intel HD and with the 1.5.2 old launcher I get 120fps. With the new one I'm getting about 16. I checked my snooper settings on both to see if anything different was running but found nothing. I can only assume that the new launcher and integrated graphics cards are not running well together.
Bad lag issues for me as well, before I was running 160fps and high settings, now Im on low settings and lucky to get 20fps. Love the update just wish it was playable for me.
@eyedjellyfish While I understand that your fix does work for people who have a separate GPU, those of us, like myself, who only have an integrated graphics card of the Intel family are unable to use that solution; there is no graphics card to switch to. Your solution is not an option.
Do you, perhaps, have a solution that will coerce Minecraft to perform the way it had before, for those of us using the Intel Integrated Graphics system? I should stress, prior to the new launcher and update, I was able to play with no lag, and I am still able to play other games, including ones with much higher overall requirements than Minecraft, with no difficulty and on high graphics settings, so I am sure that my computer not being up to par is not an issue here.
I have heard of something called MultiMC Launcher. People are saying that it runs with integrated graphics perfectly well, maybe you should try it out. It might be your last hope until they fix this.
I'll give it a check. The problem appears to be the launcher itself, so going with a different launcher appears to be my best bet. Thank you for the suggestion, and I do hope they figure it out and make some appropriate corrections. I made sure I tagged Jeb in a tweet about it, in the off chance that nobody else in the world did on the assumption that someone else would, so he's bound to read about the issue EVENTUALLY.
I also have to consider that this MAY be an issue resulting from the update to Java. It is a thing to consider, as well.
@Calcearius, I'm willing to bet, though, that you aren't relying on an integrated graphics card, or if it is, it isn't an intel. That seems to be the common theme for the people who are having problems. We all have Intel integrated graphics cards. AMD seems to be working better after the update, and people with dedicated graphics cards aren't having difficulties, unless they can't fix it to run on their card.

What you need to do is edit profile. Go to the bottom where it says "JVM Arguments"
It should look like
-Xmx1G
Change that one to a four.
It should NOW look like

Finally someone who is talking sense. I've been going around posting the source of the problem and how to fix it in many threads on different forums, and I've mostly just been getting crap from people because they can't figure out how to do my fix (configuring it to run with their dedicated graphics card), and so they just completely write me off and think that I'm incorrect and continue posting about how there is no solution etc. I've only actually had a few people actually realize what I'm saying is true. Cheers.
Are you still being sarcastic like you were before? If you are, then yes, I was right, and people who have done my fix correctly have actually fixed the problem. So you can shut up now. Thanks.
@megaben02, his fix DOES work... if you have more than one graphics card. That's the thing about it, you need that other graphics card. AMD integrated cards aren't having this problem, so every case I have read of someone having an increased FPS where they have given their specs has been either someone with that, or someone with a dedicated card and no integrated card.
Similarly, everyone I have spoken with who has a separate dedicated graphics card and has used this fix has reported better overall performance, and has reported that their processor is an Intel, usually of the I-series, either second or third generation.
I've dug a little deeper to see what specifically causes this, and have compared the notes with others who have done the same thing. Here's what I have so far:
1: The problem appears to be specific to the Intel integrated graphics cards. Those with separate dedicated cards CAN SOLVE THIS ISSUE by switching Minecraft to use that dedicated card manually.
2: The problem does not yet have a fix for those with only the Intel integrated graphics. This is common with people like myself, playing on medium- to high-end laptops.
3: The problem does not occur, or is noticeably less, when looking at/working with newly loaded "chunks." The lag occurs when looking at already-loaded "chunks" and increases exponentially the longer you are looking at these older chunks.
4: Updating Java, setting your RAM to specific amounts, and enabling Advanced OpenGL will HELP, but not solve, the problem.
5: The problem does not occur when loading v1.5.2 using the old launcher, but it does occur even when opening v1.5.2 on the new launcher; this suggests the problem has to do with the Java code in the new launcher for how it opens Minecraft.
That's what I've got so far. Here's hoping we can get a REAL fix from Mojang soon.
... also, the hit points for any dogs/cats you have on the map will reset to their default status. I have never HEARD so many dogs whine or seen so many droopy-tails in this game in my LIFE...

Oh wow I just realized I had NAVIDA graphic card guess I will have to try his way of things
