Will you please explain? Otherwise you're making a blanket statement. It's not encouraging a narrow type of creativity at all. It's encouraging creative ways to survive, but you can still be more creative than you previously could on just building in general.
I'm not making a blanket statement, and the evidence of that is that you just rephrased _exactly_ what I was saying. Just because other types of creativity are still "allowed" does not mean they are encouraged. The only creativity being actively encouraged after the updates to hostile mobs is "creative ways to survive."
However, I'm pretty sure you understand exactly what I'm saying and have just made up your mind and won't stop until I say you're right, a handicap I don't suffer from so I'm out.
Everyone does know this zombie mode is already limited to hard right? And even if you hit a zombie and spawn another zombie that zombie spawned actually has a decreased chance percentage for spawning another.
If the game difficulty is on hard, whenever a zombie is damaged by another entity it will attempt to spawn one reinforcement zombie nearby. Both the damaged zombie and the new zombie will have a reduced chance of summoning another reinforcement, so they cannot cause an infinite number of zombies to spawn, but they can multiply significantly. You can combat this effect by killing the zombie in as few hits as possible, or by using environmental damage such as falls or lava, or by ignoring them.
Truthfully survival night time was a joke. The range of the mobs is poor and encourages you to look for the mobs when it should be the other way around. The night should be attacking you and forcing you to hide not encourage you to take a slice of their pie. The zombies have a range of 60 blocks and creates the effect of the mobs attacking you at night bringing back a somewhat danger to the night. Mojang is taking night time in the right direction to actually make it dangerous and encourage people to avoid the night.
Attack strength is also scaled depending upon the amount of health a zombie has left and the difficulty setting.

As someone who prefers to build & explore rather than seek out mobs to kill, it does feel a bit unfair. I used to be able to put the difficulty up occasionally if I felt like a challenge, now I just have stick to normal and hide indoors (if I can get back in time) and then I can't sleep because the hordes are too close! I do like the update, but the baby zombies are a bit much. I come outside during the day & get at least 3 aggro babies race over & beat me to death (and they don't give your stuff back when you kill them, unlike other mobs...) yes, there are ways to defend yourself & I've had to be more careful, so the update has served its purpose, but I'd still like to make hordes optional & let the babies burn!
People need to learn about using the word "challenging"
Seriously..you cannot please everyone...People complain about it being easy, now people complain it is too difficult!
I personally like the change, it puts your Survival skills to test. It is suppose to make you think twice about going outside at night. Night time is now Dangerous! Really Dangerous! Wasn't the game always suppose to be dangerous at night. As we step our skills up, the game becomes easier for us and gets boring.
I agree the AI should be scaled on th difficulty and I know not everyone is a fan of hardcore, but it is not going to be fixed in 1 update, it's not easy to balance things out. Due to the lack of challenge before the update (my opinion), I always play on hard or Hardcore.
Edit: I decided to add on to talk about the number of zombies spawning, the lag and the annoyance.
I really am not too annoyed about the zombies itself, but I understand that the lag situation is a important one.
I did not lag much really, but of your on hardcore and you lag with a horde coming after you..You might die because of it.
He has a point you guys just never stop complaining. It's all you guys do. I prefer this night because remember back in beta when going out in night was an ease, you could mine wood and not even encounter and mobs. Now I can barely get to my castle from mining without encountering around 50 zombies.
I actually like this feature, because I can get a BED and not worry about it.
But you still have zombies that are underground managing to find your house because of their built in GPS trackers. Then they spawn in your house because the ones outside are not being looked at and they are taking damage from the fire caused by the sun. Then they kill your villagers.
The explanation here is basically a wall of text, but my point still stands.

I had a similar situation with Minecraft 1.6.1. It was a normal night, out hunting looking for string and stuff and I cut a zombie up. Then out of freaking nowhere, bam! A zombie book club attacks me from behind While no matter what you do, the extreme Minecraft hardcore pro's will complain that a creeper apocalypse on hardcore with only a sign and leather pants, it to easy. People who struggle on normal will want no zombie hoards, and easier every thing. But I, the Master of Bacon, have an idea. Have hard and hardcore modes be zombie book clubs with armor, creeper dance parties, and skeletons with aim-bot and AWP's. (Bacon for you if you get the reference :P)
Who cares? Zombies are easy to fight, just strafe and slash, and if you are somehow incapable of fighting such an easy mob you can always outrun them. Or you know stay in your house for the night or sleep the night away. Also if you have a village put a fence around it and light the inside up to keep them from spawning, I did that to mine even before the update, it's common sense.
Zombies spawning other zombies and seeing you from across the rendered area should not happen on easy, should be limited on normal, and should come with actually threatening zombies on hard.
As is, these zombies are not challenging to keep at bay. They are however, impossible to stop without waiting, sleeping, or lighting up a ridiculously large area.
All this does is make me need to repair my swords more often and distract me with tedious zombie-chopping while I'm trying to do other things at night. Also, you can kiss villagers goodbye unless you catche the village the moment it renders during the day and do nothing until night but wall and torch it so that mob spawns are impossible. An unprotected village used to be something you could get into one night, wait out the night, then start torching and walling gradually over up to an in-game week in preparation for a siege. Villages were limited in longevity without major player assistance, but they had time to be saved. They could also be not fully walled if you were vigilant and torched up the surrounding area. Now a village is doomed without a fence and full lighting night one.
Just putting in that I won't be touching this update with a 10 foot pole until it's either fixed (moved to Normal/Hard only) or mods come out to turn this absurdity off. I hate it when games get ruined by masochists who aren't happy unless they spend half the game on the floor. Sticking with older modpacks.
Guess people will have to get good at the game, games cant stay casual forever. You could always...yknow, run. Hardmode should be hard, not a "Oh I play on hardmode to tell my friends I play on it! look at me! XD" mode.
Still waiting on random high enchants on zombie weapons and random zombies with permanent potion effects, like jump boost or regen. Also the spiders need some buffing too. Still, I like where all of this is going.
I still want a giant spider boss in mineshafts, the giant dirt room is perfect for that. Give bane of anthropods a use!
The Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.
I've had one of these situations today. I was in a cave, mining and minding my own business and a zombie comes out. I hit him once, 2 zombies appear. Next thing I know, I have 12 zombies beating the everliving shizz out of me, and I'm dead. I've now decided to delete that world, make a new one and make my new house like a bunker, piston door and everything. I thought the update was bad before this, now I think it's INSANE.
No, it is NOT limited to Hard! And THAT is the problem! If it really WERE limited to Hard, no one would be complaining!
If Hard were just harder, this would be true, but "Hard" actually makes some things easier by making certain mechanics more reliable. Examples: Zombies are more likely to turn villagers than kill them on Hard. Zombie Pigmen are more likely to spawn from Overworld portals on Hard.
4) ZOMBIE BUFFS
I've never have so much fun just by going to the front door of my house. It's free fun, front-door delivery, every night.
I trapped a villager in my brewing room and since the update hordes and hordes of zombies surround my house. I open the door and let them all enter my house like a big mob party, after a few seconds I have 10 or 20 zombies in and then I start a zombie massacre with a pack of dogs and powerful weapons. It's fun and better than XP farm.
