I can't seem to craft a horse saddle I use the leather and iron where they are supposed to go and I get nothing. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks!
The horse saddles were removed long ago, and pig saddles were changed so that they can be put on horses as well as pigs. I still think they should be craftable...
There is currently no crafting recipe for saddles, however they can be found in dungeon chests. I have 7 saddles that I have found in dungeon chests, so just keep looking for a dungeon.
First desert temple I found when starting on a new server contained chests with 2 saddles, 2 diamond horse armor and one iron horse armor. Seems like players just need to make a serious effort to explore for temples and fortresses because the good stuff IS abundant if you look in the right places.
Your best bet in my experience is to find a desert or jungle temple. Found 4 saddles once in a single pyramid. I still think it makes no sense for them not to be craftable, but if you explore for a while you'll eventually have more saddles than you need.
Can't craft horse saddles in a game called Minecraft.
I have been fishing for 3 days in a row and no saddle, I looked in the village blacksmith chest, only iron bars, raided at least three chests in the mines, no saddle. And I checked 2 chests near a monster spawner... nothing useful.
First time since alpha that I have to resort to a mod because i'm not happy with a "feature" in the game.
A: Nice necro.
B: I was going to post a SS of a full double chest of saddles accquired through fishing. But I guess screen shots no longer work
Anyway. Break a pole or 2, you will get them. Look up panda's AFK fishing setup and run for 8 hours. You will get MANY. As well as books, bows, nametags (I have 42 XD), etc.
Don't make 3-4 casts then rage cause you got nothing.
You are indeed raging. If you are just installing a mod, why not just go do it? An option to disable it would result in useless coding. Very much like asking Mojang to make id's for every individual spawner.

I'm not a psychopath, I'm a sociopath. Do your research! Why can't people just think?
And I kinda get... claustrophobic with all the people religiously "defending" this decision by mojang to remove the horse saddle crafting. If the think it makes the game to easy, then what is wrong with a option to disable it?
Chests need rewards. Saddles used to be worthless, now they're not. Now you have a reason to go explore.
They won't. And good riddance.
I still think they should be craftable...
I'm in the "Should be craftable" side too, but I'm not going down that rabbit hole again.
Mojang said no, end of debate.
Now go fire up the bukkit and get your plug in for it. Just easier that way.
