You must do a heck of a lot more mining than me then because I have stacks of gravel and no flint because I've used it all making flipping arrows which have then all been used up.
You know that you can "re-mine" your gravel and get more flint right? You can convert it all to flint if you go at it long enough.
I suspect this is because people can play then game in vastly different ways. Those that view it as an RPG get bored with the hostile mobs, whereas those that see it as a creative game would rather not have to deal with mobs that are anything more than a nuisance. Granted, I think the correct path to please everyone is to introduce some greater difficulty scaling...
I do think that behavior should be related to game difficulty, however. Right now they're kind of stuck in a mid-way state that is hard for the people who stink at combat, and still way too easy for everyone else.
Some people either get the joke in my post or take it way too seriously.

Message me yours if you want to trade in Animal Crossing: New Leaf or just need some friends to play with. I can also do Pokemon trades in Pokemon X(or Y), but I don't have any good stuff, and the only good stuff I have is not for trade so...send me requests anyway.

I agree that the knockback is terrible, but I wouldn't say the aim is better. I can easily dodge their arrows. They don't necessarily spame arrows when you try to attack them either. As others have said up there, the harder Minecraft is, the better. The harder the game, the more interesting and fun it is. If skeletons are a nuisance to you, have you tried to find a mod that alters the spawn of them? I've never seen one, but there just has to be a mod for that. There's mods for basically everything. Google is your friend.
The 1.5 update for skeletons encourages the use of more far-ranged, strategic weapons, such as splash and regular potions, ender pearls, and snowballs.

Skeletons are not that hard for me.
Usually what I do, is wait behind a tree, and when they turn around,
When 1.5 came out, it was sooo hard to fight a skeleton! They have an amazing aim (it's IMPOSSIBLE to dodge their arrows) and when you try to kill them with your sword they spam arrows and knock you back and kill you! It's impossible to kill them in the water too! Anyone else think the same?
seriously? use the left mouse button to swing your "sword".
i have killed 3 or 4 skeletons at once, several times. I don't see the problem.
I don't mind the faster firing skeletons, but I do think the knockback should be toned down a bit to compensate. You will die just as quickly but you won't be as much of a ping pong ball and have a better fighting chance in melee.
I haven't tested the skeletons on easy though. Are they ramped up there as well? I play on the medium difficulty nowadays.
The fast knockback is what's ridiculous. "Durr I thought you wanted monsters harder" yeah but why's it have to be all piled onto the skeleton? So now we have to bring bows and arrows, OK except I thought Mojang didn't approve of requiring grinders? If you're running a bow 24/7 you'll need a skeleton grinder. I happen to have one right by my base but not everyone does.
Really, skeletons should only act like this on hard difficulty. If that. And there's a difference between difficult and just plain annoying. This is both.

Nub. No, but seriously they still are not as hard as they used to be, they used to walk around you and shoot. Not stand still. They still don't really pose a serious threat.

I really havn't noticed much of a terrible change, they are slightly harder ......
Of course I am using enchanted diamond armor with an enchanted diamond sword, so I don't doubt that they would WTFPZWN me if I was just starting out. Like someone else in the forums I have encountered a situation where two skells were essentially juggling me with arrows.... So they really do need to do something about them to even them out, like temporary knockback immunity or only conveying knockback at full charge...... maybe having the skells switch to a "dagger" when you get close to them instead of spam shooting arrows?

I love that Idea
If you sould add mobs that could swich wepons you sould have archer zombies and sword skellies.
That IMO is a good idea.
