I am also getting very low fps in these recent snapshots, especially this one it seems. In a superflat world I usually get 40-60 fps, now I get 20-30. Makes my current bad computer worse than it was.
The comparators updating blocks constantly is back! I'm happy.
So it seems, it works for dispensers and droppers but not for forcing piston updates. So it's not the same thing exactly but at least we should get our auto emptying dispensers/droppers and vertical item transportation back.

The id value for the falling sand entity that handles falling blocks like sand and gravel was a signed byte so it wasn't able to store values greater than 128. This means that for modding/the API any block that wanted to obey gravity like sand and gravel do had to have an ID number below that. This has no effect on normal gameplay.
Ah, thanks. I wish they would do the same for biome gen.
And the one easily reproducible >50% failure rate on pistons bug has still been over looked. Funny because it was reported plenty of times and always marked as a "Duplicate" for the other piston bug that was fixed and was only a graphical glitch and didn't actually break anything.
I can't tell what the bug is or how it works. Maybe including an actual description of it would help.

It's a double extender, when the line of redstone is powered it has a >50% chance to power the lower set of pistons before the piston next to the block the redstone is on. This is not how it is in every update before and including 1.4.7 or how you would expect it to act. With the lower set of pistons getting power and extending before the top has a chance to they cannot extend and will produce a graphical glitch as well.

Given the fact that the most annoying bug for me is the upside down slab/stair lighting glitches, and this bug is even more noticable when smooth lighting is off...
That is not actually a bug, but just an issue with the current lighting system.
There was one snapshot that this was actually 'fixed' in but that was a snapshot with a new lighting system that was rather CPU intensive IIRC. So they took the new lighting engine out and have been working on it since, which is reportedly supposed to be in 1.5

Just posting to point out my dilemma has been reported on the buggery: Anti-Gannon
On a side note, hitting "Esc" brings the FPS back to it's proper status. I remember this happening a while back, I want to say during the 1.3 snappers.
(Esc works regardless if it is single player, or multi) <--Ruling out the "pausing particles" of single player

does that mean their inconsistent delay is back? they fixed that on purpose.
I love me some comparator cannons, but I don't want people's redstone to break in the process.
I would say yes, I just did a quick test using a loop of repeaters and comparators and a one tick pulse but the results do seem to be inconsistent.
