I like the way it turned out. You still have to wait for farms to grow, just not as long. This also gives you, or at least me, a reason to build more. More farms, more storage, maybe redstone devices. It also makes mob hunting a little more necessary, which makes armor and weapons more so, and maybe enchantments.
Pretty much it makes Mining and Crafting more important. Which is, you know, kind of the point of this whole thing.

But honestly foods value is subjective. A guy with too much resources will either not harvest / build chests for food they cant eat. Tons of it and worth less n less the more he gets. But a starving guy with nowhere to go for food would easily trade diamonds for food, if he had diamonds and no food source.
This issue turns into this: which is worse? A guy noticing wheat is fertilized in an unrealistic way? Or people starving over a nerf?...
Of course people advocating the nerf essentially called anyone complaining of it a noob, so it was pretty much a backnforth argument going nowhere. They refused to compromise.

I think it needed the nerf. It was to OP, and people who played before it happened might hate it, though newer players will not care.
Also add a poll, and change it to the discussion section, they nerfed it last year.
The fact of the matter is - in my personal opinion - this is good for survival.
But not for creative.
A lot of the people who used bonemeal were creative builders. I was one of them. I liked insta-growing trees on my builds. It was useful. Now? On my builds? Annoying. Right now I am searching up a forge-compatible bonemeal de-nerfing mod. wish me luck.

Yes: it make farming more realistic + it give a extra challenge.
No: Seriously... you need same amount of bonemeal to grow up a tree and seeds to wheat...
A few changes to how new bonemeal system works would be good.
Personally im not longer using bonemeal to my farms because it take a way too much bonemeal to grow up 2 seeds and its wasting of time to walk around and kill skeletons and get killed/lost at end.
So with the new snapshot, bonemeal was nerfed alot, you now need 2 bonemeal for trees and giant mushrooms and instead of crops going to fully grown, it goes to the next stage. In my opinion, I think it sucks how bonemeal got nerfed. I personally hate it and wish it wasn't nerfed this much. I do like how trees now need 2 saplings now. Then again I don't have a skeleton farm.
Really? For me it takes 100s of bonemeal to grow a giant mushroom.
Well the thing here is that after doing some things it's easy to have a good couple of bones and with how bonemeal was..
Actually, that's not even the main argument I have, my main argument is that it should 'aid' in growth, not magically grow everything. It seemed very tacky that it just made plants fully grow instantly.
Also, if you're in creative you get infinite anyways, so why would that matter?
