I like the whole "no more instant growth" idea, but maybe two stages should advance instead of one. Also, it bugs me how trees grow faster than carrots >.<
I think this is unintentionally to being the start of updating fishing. People no longer have to rely on bread, and people have to return to fishing! I love this bonemeal update.
There wasn't any good reason to nerf the way a single Bonemeal affected anything. They could have changed the Bone to Bonemeal crafting recipe to 1:1 and it wouldn't have me batting an eye.
The nerf is perfect, I get bones tons of bones and All I do with them is burn them because it takes up too much time breaking and replanting things so repetitively. Now I can use entire stacks in one visit.
I don't get your logic.
It takes too much time to grow crops with Bonemeal, break and replant, so taking longer to grow crops with Bonemeal is okay? It's still repetitive, takes much longer than before, and it's fine because you finally can get rid of excess Bones?
It's ok, but they should scale it to difficulty. IE in easy it works like always, normal it advances crops 2 stages, and hard it advances 1 stage. Personally I kind of find it annoying since it makes bones barely worth fighting for.
I have mixed feeling on it. Bonemeal has been a tad over powered but with the hunger bar you kinda need it to be. I think they should make it so a bone gives you 4 bone meal if there going to do this.

Who needs circles when you have cubes? (execpt for snowballs there fun.)
I think it seems a little over powered for wheat because wheat has 6 or 7 stages but for carrots I think they did a good job. Overall if the made bone meal insta-grow two stages for wheat I wouldn't care about the change.
This is a real problem for starting out fresh. Yes, there is fishing but this requires a body of water, and killing several spiders. I think for farm plants it should boost it by 3 stages instead of 1. not instant, but not useless ether.
Oh and they need to make dispensers plant seeds, cause whats the point in having bone meal dispensers, but NOT seed dispensers?.... it ruins the automation idea.
People who rely on bonemeal for their primary food source = hate the change
People who actually set up farms and let them grow naturally = don't care
Bone meal was never meant to be your primary source of food. If food was meant to grow instantly then it would have, or you could just eat the bone meal. I've always built farms everywhere I go and even though I have a two double wide chests full of bones I have never relied on them for food, only to finish off those slow crops when the rest of the farm is done.

I can't say I care one way or the other about this change. I just let my crops grow over time anyway. And I've so many bones in a chest that are just collecting dust. That only got worse after finding a skeleton spawner.
I can see it having an effect in the first days of a new world, but even then food really isn't that much a problem. Not if you make that your first priority and get some seed in the ground fast, or get fishing. And people can always eat some mob drops too if it comes to that.

The groups are not that distinct...
I always set up farms and let them grow naturally. However, I also use Bonemeal quite a bit on crops in the beginning of the game, as I'm sure a lot of farmers do, for food and to build up stock. In the beginning of the game, unless you get uber lucky, you do not have the benefit of a chest full of Bones, and this nerf is completely unfair to the people who would otherwise be getting a few pieces of bread after killing a Skeleton or three.
It has little effect on people who are already established, but screws over people who aren't.
That's a really unnecessary nerf. It wont kill the game for me though, but it is a little disheartening. I love my giant wheat farms, and I love being able to make some instant wheat to trade with, breed, or to stock up on food. I kinda require a lot for those processes.

Oh well. :c
Well you have to admit that Bonemeal was a little OP...
Well it makes sense late game, if you have a skeleton farm and a few carrots you are set for life. The problem is early game when you may need it just to survive, and all you can get is from manually hunting.
I'm not sure how I feel about the bone meal update. One one hand, the ability to use bone meal on a plant directly from a dispenser opens up to some new redstone farm possibilities, but, at the same time, a lot of redstone wheat farming machines relied on the fact that bone meal grows a plant instantly. Now, in my world, i have a skeleton spawner i can easily get Bones from, so I'm not severely effected by it, but even for the people who don't, they can just make farms that rely on time for plants to grow. And if they need food, Meat is not that bad of a substitute for Bread.
I used to have tons of bones and saplings, which I used bonemeal to get 8 STACKS of logs. This is with around 1 stack of bone meal alone. I do like the fact that you need 2 bone meal for trees, but for farming, I wish they made it 2 stages for each. Maybe different for melon/pumpkin plants, 1 for each stages (they have less stages)

Do you like red panda's? They are so cute! Message me if you like the Red Panda!
I am a more creative mode person but i understand how anoying that would be.
Maybe if in easy or something it worked like normal?
All it needed was a giant mushroom nerf, really.
