Another tip is to use Magic Launcher to switch between old and new jar files. ML will also allow you to install and uninstall mods with just a check of a box and even rearrange the order in which they are installed.
MC is updating to 1.4.4 soon so let's try and avoid the usual endless round of threads requesting old jar files and those thread's subsequent deletion and warnings not to post such jar file requests.

If I would not update my Minecraft, then how would I see the new features (like the new where are we now disc)? They can use MCNostalgia to help them downgrade to older versions of Minecraft to play with their mods.
