Sand sounds a little too wet in my opinion (maybe make it sound dry in the desert and wet near water?), cows need to be tweaked just a little bit (maybe a longer moo?), the rattle sounds from when you hit a skeleton should be toned down a little as should the door smashing sound from when a zombie tries to break in.
New sounds are a waste of time. They add nothing to the gameplay of minecraft they don't make adventuring any funner Nor do they improve the potion system.
I can think of fifty new features that should have been added instead of wasting the time to add sounds.
New mobs.
New ores
Trading system rebalanced
real dungeons.
Mod API
improve villages.
To name just a few.
Why does everything have to add something?
I've been trying to figure this argument out since I heard it about the bat. Not everything has to impact gameplay...
I never tried a snapshot, but most of the new sounds are good so far. The only ones I don't like is the sand, gravel, and cows, but I'll get used to those.

This is an example of rationalisation BTW. People keep justifying it all the time. =/
@Lambastificate: This forum needs more posters like you who explain what they post and actually make constructive posts.
The only sound I really have an issue with is the sand. Sand is dry, sound is wet. I don't have any problems with the other sounds, but the sand is the one I hear complained about the most.
-Just an opinion-

How long do you think it takes to code/run bugfixes as opposed to cutting and replacing existing code files? They're not even comparable.

Keep on derpin'
Except for the water splash and fall damage sound, they are so freaking TERRIBLE! My first time hating on something in Minecraft.
I mean when i was falling i'm like "WOOHOO- *crunch*" And i have a good laugh.
Now it's like "WOOHOO-*puff*" And i'm all like WTF?

The realism is getting more Minecraft.
