My oldest son is almost 3, and autistic.
You did offend me, TC, and I would love to say some very mean things to you, but I wont.
I want you to know this, though: my son is very good at several games, including Minecraft, and we enjoy playing it together. Don't underestimate autistic kids. My son can't speak at all, but that doesn't mean he isn't smarter than you.
Oh, and just to brag, he loves Mega Man, and can almost beat all 8 of the 8-bit games.
I gotta say that is impressive, the early megaman games aren't pushovers as far as difficulty. Good on him.
It's just a whole lot of trial and error on his part. I'm very proud of his persistence. I also laughed my ass off when he beat Guts Man in less than 20 minutes. Those notoriously difficult moving platforms were actually easy for him.
On topic: we play on hard, with no problems, so yeah, it is pretty easy. I suggest affix mobs that start spawning after awhile.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I use the FTB modpack, because it's fun, and extremely convenient.
Minecraft is not THAT easy. Besides, when I got to the Ender Dragon, I was pushed off the stage by him and I died. I had to start getting weapons and Eye of Enders all over again.
I think the key is in giving mobs secondary, mobility-hampering tricks. Or make the environment a bit deadlier. Making lava even just 10% faster would make at least 10% more people die, for instance.
That's not going to make the game harder at all. Only for the people who just start out, they don't know how to handle lava.
Well, it does need to be a tad bit harder but let's be honest, it doesn't need to be stupidly hard if hard is going to be beefed up make a very easy mode or classic pre hunger survival mode still with enchanting and all the new stuff but without hunger.
I agree it doesn't need to be 1-hit kill from every mob, but I think Jeb has a deep-rooted fear of making the game overly difficult and they make minor changes that make it barely harder but then loosen the belt on just about everything else.

He already beat me, I started games when I was 6. lol
once you get used to a game it doesnt become harder.
although there will be a time where you think its too easy that it catches you by suprise, and when that happens. I will be waiting to hear how you was blown up and dropped your diamonds in the lava.
It would be a lot harder if mobs moved faster and had decent damage, as of right now they barely hurt you with no armor. Most mobs do about 2-3 hearts, but with regen and slow mob speed it is barely anything. The only mobs you really need armor for are blazes and possibly enderman if you aren't used to them.

I usually go in the end with bare-bones equipment, enough to kill it so that I don't lose things. Why would you bring eyes of ender in the end?
You're an entitled child on the internet, so you're forgiven for that assumptive comment about people with autism.
On your subject, please note: Survival was an afterthought. Give the developers time to work out the current kinks before doing something a lot of people would call a "cosmetic change".
If you absolutely need challenge, there's a ton of games out there designed to make people break their consoles. Ninja Gaiden or the afore mentioned Megaman series.
If you need your Minecraft to challenge you, then I would look up the super hostile map series by vechs. I know those maps have made me say very awful things to my computer O_O

As much as I disagree with some of these people the developers have had way more than enough time to fix things.
Well I think I sorta get what the OP means. With every update Notch/Jeb adds more items/blocks that indirectly make it easier to survive. For example: Pistons and Tripwire allow you to make better traps that better protect you from mobs. On the other hand, mobs and other elements that make the game difficult having been getting too much of an upgrade.
Which means that eventually, your Minecraft world is so well developed that no mob whoever strong can pose a threat to you because you're in the safety of your castle surrounded by tons of traps, torches, cats, and wolves that make sure no mobs come anywhere near.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I don't like the new additions like tripwire (on the contrary, I love them), but I get what the OP is saying: the game could be made more difficult.
Maybe Mojang could add strong mobs and focus a bit more on the combat system (maybe even add new weapons) to make the game more challenging.
Interesting, isn't it, how people are complaining about getting enchantments being made easier but seem to ignore that enchanting itself made the game far easier than before.
Of course, the whole fact you can simply ignore the entire system never seems to come to mind either. I never touched enchantments until 1.3 in fact because I wanted to build, not spend hours upon hours methodically whacking mobs for something random and in many cases not even worth it. Sure, an Eff. IV pick is great for mining, but if I used that time to mine instead I would have already accomplished far more than the speed gain would have gotten me.
As for the game in general, it doesn't matter how hard mobs are if I don't go out and night and put myself in danger or how lava behaves if I don't do stupid things around it. If you want to make the game harder, set your own limits. Try limiting yourself to an unenchanted iron sword, no armor and see how well you survive? Survival has never been that hard beyond the first time you play and have to learn the ropes.
The just decreased the max enchanting level to below 5 TIMES what it was. Why? Just because people were whining and complaining that it was "too hard" and that it takes more then a couple minutes to get a decent enchantment. That's just the first thing that comes to mind.
Learn the difference between hard and tedious. It was never hard to level enchanting, but when a single player game starts to feel like I'm playing a Korean pay to win MMO, something needs to be changed.
Well, when I went back and played alpha even in my iron armor I had to walk over to skeletons while they battered me with arrows and I couldn't jump-crit them. :/
I wasn't that used to alpha, but it used to be 10-fold harder than it is now. You could get hp instantly but food didn't stack and I usually carried around like 4 pieces of meat with me. I do feel ores were still common back then however.
I think mojang needs to make ores harder to find. Whats the point in playing if you can find a diamond in 5 min of spawning.
I think they need to decrease their spawn height. Well, if we couldn't make charcoal, they could spawn coal lower and make it a challenge to find a good light source at the beginning (yeah u can use stove light, redstone ore light, lava light, but they aren't usually convenient). They should have added a tougher material layer near the bottom of the map also.
Also: Coal and iron are extremely common. It's very nice for rails and things, but they are just ridiculously common! I think it's like 16 veins of 20 coal per chunk and like 20 veins of 8 iron per chunk.
One of the game modes is called survival, and there are too easy to survive. I think they need to add at least one mob that can destroy blocks in some way. No, no randomly, only when it senses you around. Make damn silverfishes spawn everywere, add some blocks that are destroyable only by iron and higer tools,
It bothers me that we have redstone, but we cant use it for building traps.to proctect our precious houses( our buildings are the most precious, don't you agree?). And we need more machines for crafting, it's makes game a lot easier that you can make many things just by hand( 2x2 crafting place). I sugested GRINDER many times- it would be the only way to get bonebeal, so that would make a game somewhat longer, and add a nice decoration to our houses and of course the oven only for cooking food (eeewww we are eating food from the same place where we burn ores!). And of course dough, for bread and many other cakes.
Looking for a demand we need at least 4 updates:
-nether update
-mob update
-water update
and the craft update.
That's what I am thinking.
A mob that destroys blocks when it sees you? That will cause lots of complaining but if you really want that, there's a mod called the Mo'Creatures mod, and one of them is an orc that brakes blocks when it senses you.
On topic: Minecraft could be as easy or hard as you want. In the start of me playing Minecraft, it was fairly difficult because I had no experience and knew nothing of the minecraft world. If you choose to check out hundreds of videos of how to play and be pro in minecraft, it will be easy, if you learn by yourself about everything in the game, it will be fairly difficult.
Minecraft isn't suppose to be a game like ninja gaiden where you must be pro or be good, die many times and try again type of video game, it's suppose to be a sandbox adventure game. Obviously much like many games out there, minecraft gets easier the more you play, but takes time to get used to the game. Minecraft shouldn't be the hardest game but not even the easiest game. Minecraft survival isn't even the only gameplay you must have, you could also play other's people places and take a challenge there. Minecraft is making the game much easier so people could have fun, but they are also making some things more difficult like the creeper explosion and more understandable like the level cap. The level was lowered mostly because when you die you lose half of your exp and also because it took so long to get even a decent enchantment.
Again Minecraft is as easy or hard as you want. 1.3 isn't the last update or even close to be so there is a lot of time for improvement. If the game gets to easy, play other places made from the people or install a mod.
Hard level is way too easy, I haven't died in over a month( on hard) and it isn't to hard to make it hard; just make zombies give 6 hearts of damage instead. Not too hard to implement.
The just decreased the max enchanting level to below 5 TIMES what it was. Why? Just because people were whining and complaining that it was "too hard" and that it takes more then a couple minutes to get a decent enchantment. That's just the first thing that comes to mind.
They changed this so you don't have to grind for an hour, and because bookshelves are harder to make now since leather is needed for bookshelves. This had been discussed on many threads I recommend reading other threads before posting your own, that way you can solve your own problem without people having to tell you.
Exactly, if you think it's too easy try out some custom maps. That's the beauty of MC. Get bored, get maps or mods. Also i've noticed in some videos doing those hostile maps before 1.8 wasn't hard it was just tedious. Getting lots of food is annoying.
There's a fine line between hard and annoying. I think Mojang is trying to make it less annoying but that comes at the price of making it a tad easier.
I gotta say that is impressive, the early megaman games aren't pushovers as far as difficulty. Good on him.
Yep, this is the perfect way to start a thread.

There's yet more to come!
