I find this funny because I almost never do multiplayer and I rarely keep any world for long in single player.
Yea, that's me... start new world... few days later been to the nether, the end... need new challenge... new world here I am About the only multi-player I do is with my son and daughter... snapshots made that nice as I don't have to stop my current world, just open to lan.
I agree with you, but the two revolution episodes with Gaeta are my all time favorite. I would have liked to see more, and the ending just seemed kinda rushed out. They can't make it perfect though, and they're trying to make it be possibly realistic, so Apollo's idea had to be implemented; they just stuck it on his character.
Characterization just went out the window those last few episodes. I know the feeling though. I don't like letting go of Boomer's delicious revenge on her doppelganger (but then they had that crap about Boomer needing to be 'redeemed'. Seriously. **** that. There's nothing the universe can do to make up for the injustices that had been heaped upon her. She's the last damn person who needs redemption.)
But they just messed up my girl Laura waaaaay too damn much for me to ever consider that crap canon. Just can't do it. Laura doesn't give in. She doesn't know how to. And I'm going to stop talking because I can go on days about how bad this show screwed up.
I have editors for just this reason. We reset our world after 1.8 (I think) and it sucked. I'll never do it again. I'm not one of the people who likes to re-establish their base every few weeks. I like survival mode just because it keeps things from getting boring. However I love his game because I can build just about anything I can imagine. Doing it under fire, so to speak, is even more fun.
So if I like the new terrain generator, I'll just go and edit out the Un-devloped regions of my current world, and let them fill in again. And if something looks out of place and really bugs me. I'll just World Edit them out.
You could move your stuff to a new world using MCedit
MCedit won't be around forever. The guy who makes it was planning on not updating the mod because it was taking a lot of his time. Then he put up a donation site saying he'd release the source code for money. After next update MCedit may be gone. (At least that's what was in the news a while back.)
Edit: It's source code was released now apparently. Let's just hope the new guy keeps up with it.
I've decided to take an indefinite break from developing MCEdit. I cannot say whether I'll come back to this project in the future, because the future is perilously uncertain. In the meantime, I've shared the source code on github, and TkTech has volunteered to take up the maintenance role. He'll be the one who uploads the official builds to the Downloads page on github, and who handles any pull requests and bug reports in my absence.
Apologies for the "Ransom" scare. The source code was released free of charge with no payment demanded. A big thanks to everyone who donated regardless. As a gesture of thanks, the last change I made after releasing the source code was partial support for Minecraft 1.2 (Anvil) worlds.
Only unstable builds are available at the moment - use at your own risk.
But still - don't think mods can fix everything, because they can disappear overnight. That's why pressure on Mojang to make a balanced game is important.
To be honest, I like to see worlds reset every now and again. I can't stand coming into a world already built in every square inch past 10,000 x 10,000. A reset is good for the people who like to start fresh every once in a while. More realistically though, it's completely stupid to halt upgrading your server if they bring out something new that can only be found with new .jar files, just because a group of people are feeling sentimental about the whole thing, and can't let go.
My remedy to this? Make the older map downloadable. No one loses their work, in fact everyone gets to keep everyone's work. It's called progress. People who complain need to stop halting progress, and quit their QQ'ing.
Oh boy do I feel sorry for anyone walking into this thread who has interest in Battlestar Galactica but hasn't gotten to the last season yet. Suddenly, spoilers.
To me, it's just lost time. There is absolutely nothing in Minecraft that I have built that I can't build again, no loot that I haven't gotten several times at least, and nowhere to explore that I haven't already seen the biome. It's just a matter of finding the spider spawner, the zombie and skeleton spawner, the nether fortress and so on again.
How you feel when the server you've put hours of your life into has to reset for 1.3
It feels like hyperinflation wiping out your life savings completely in a short timespan.
It feels like some civil war passing through the region destroying all of the old city and the productive capacity of your soceity to leave only stronghold ruins and abandoned mineshaft in scattered places.
It feels like old neighbours fleeing with your to another region to start fresh and rebuild again.

iron crossbow with iron-tipped arrows, storage boat, animal-carrying boat, animal feeder, ridable baby enderdragon, gravity-falling lava/water source-entities, iron spikes on fences, clay-ceramic golems/armors/tools, diamond shears, iron-backed books, rotatable handheld map
I'm always sad to say goodbye to a world, but after a day or so on a new world, I'm over it.
Starting over is fun. There are aspects of the game that you just don't appreciate once you're established and have everything you need.
You'll make a new world that's even better than the old one. What's not to like about that? Just try to focus on the positives because there's not any point focusing on the negatives.
A new dawning of better things to come. This is minecraft, we build new interesting things all the time, this just gives me an excuse to build something new instead of feeling sentimental of something I already have.
I'm not the owner and we're resetting for a bunch of reasons.
I mean no offense, but that's an issue between you and the server admin. People reset maps even when the game hasn't updated, for various reasons. Maybe they'll be willing to put the map file someplace for you to download, that's probably the best solution.
If that's not an option. Ask very very nicely for the download file.?;)
If that doesn't work don't be upset. It's one of those things that happen when you don't play on a server you control. Start your own then you make all the decisions.

1. MCEdit doesn't work in Multiplayer
2. You can just Copy/Paste a building and have it look right unless it was build in a very flat area.
You, sir, are ignorant and contribute nothing to this community.

No, because I don't understand what you're attempting to convey here.
