So, this is not yet another rant thread, I just wanted to inform you, the ones who didn't play the snapshots or just check them a bit, I played the lastest snapshot (12w25a) which supposed to be one of the last snapshots before 1.3 and I expected the singleplayer in it to be almost as good as the one before the singleplayer multiplayer merging, and it's still awful, many of the well known multiplayer bugs are still in and in singleplayer, it lags and glitch like it never has been in singleplayer, and it's just not as fast and good as it used to be at all, there's a lot of missing stuff and not working so well stuff. The good old Minecraft singleplayer is just destroyed. I think I will play 12w17a as long as singleplayer will turn back to what it used to be (if it will ever happen :\)
What do you think about the singleplayer being a local multiplayer server game in 1.3?
I agree, it's frustrating, but I'm just going to be patient as they make fixes to it. It's not like they're making it that way and abandoning it forever.
1. It will be fixed over time
2. It will make things much easier for modders
3. I don't give a damn about singleplayer
It will be fixed, it will just take a while...
For the multiplayer only players, yeah I guess this would be the best update ever, but the old school singleplayer is destroyed. I think that most old(played since alpha\early beta) legit singleplayer players will hate the update. Because back then multiplayer was a big mess and everyone played singleplayer to enjoy not having any glitches and lag. Now we are forced to have these multiplayer glitches and lag.
When I've been playing it it pretty much mirrors sp except that entity graphics sometimes stray off them pop back to where they actually are. Other than that I get the same fps and on occasion when fighting mobs there will be a little bit of delay to where I get the jump on the mob or it gets the jump on me. I tend to forget it's actually multiplayer for the most part. If they fix multiplayer bugs it would be perfect.
"Destroyed," now. That's a bit more varied than the normal doomsaying.
Who says this is one of the last snapshots? I hope it's not. You're right that there's work to be done. I wouldn't say that most multiplayer bugs are still in -- most are actually squashed, aside from a few system-wide big ones (stuff involving entity positions, the occasional delay of sounds, and some extra difficulty hitting entities, and the lighting bugs and world generation bugs).

Make note: I generally avoid being insulting. If I sound insulting, I'm probably joking.
well if your like me a like to basically have every item in the game in multiplayer you could do (on most servers) for exaple /give <enter player name here> 25 64 and it would give u that item and the amount but in the snapshots you can do that at your own will so for exmple remember thr locked chests well i for get the exact ID for it so if u do /give <enter player name here> 486 then it would give you the locked chestes but it would not take you to the store or any thing the texture for it is this pink around the sides and has the emerald block texture on the top and bottom
(edit) if u place it down it only stays for a couple of seconds

Oh, you mean like they did with SMP for the last 3 years?
But honestly, I think Mojang appears to at least be aware of how badly this is affecting SSP, and that appears to be part of the reason 1.3 hasn't been released yet.
I'm truly hoping that they do hold off on pushing the official update until SSP (and by extension, SMP) works as well as it did.
lol it couldn't have been done a better way...Literally, no way at all to merge them better than the way they did.
Notch said he regrets not merging them from the very beginning, btw.
I noticed that the 25w snapshot is laggier than the 24w one, as in destroying blocks would take longer and stuff. But It'll likely be fixed this snapshot.

Best game ever: Ace of Spades FREE FPS minecraft-like game.
Makes you wonder how some of us have endured multi-player at all.
O ya....The bugs are not that bad.
I'm also pretty sure some of the problems are due to the computers involved. Playing a server run on my roommates desktop was almost exactly like singleplayer and that was before the merge.
It should work on the same principle...better computer means less bugs and lag from the merge.
Am I the only one not having any issues with the snapshots? Hell, even my redstone contraptions work flawlessly. I find this doom and gloom attitude to be really annoying, frankly.
Reason of most bugs: You have a slow computer and you blame mojang because of it.
I play the snapshots and have no problems. If you don't want internet lag, play offline.
Notice that this is indeed a snapshot, so it will NOT be perfect, or even close. I can guarentee by the time the official update comes out it will be much better than it is now..
1. It will be fixed over time
2. It will make things much easier for modders
3. I don't give a damn about singleplayer
It will be fixed, it will just take a while...
Haha well said. This update will make future bug fixed much quicker because having one codebase instead of two (well, minecraft_server.jar is still separate but it probably builds off the same code) means Jeb and his crew will only have to make the fix in one spot instead of two.

Exactly. I played once on my Dell Mini laptop (onboard video) and it was horrible. Besides that I've always played SMP on my desktop and a different laptop and I haven't had any serious problems. Sure, I get the mobs temporarily sliding away and then snapping back on occation, but that's not really a big deal.
dont blame mojang i played 12w24a and i got around 30FPS when for whatever reson in 1.2.5 i only got around 10 FPS (i guss my computer's minecraft run faster on multiplayer i really dont know) so if you have a faster computer then minecraft would run smoother
Before you complain about performance, check your computer specs and post them along with your complaint. We can't know what the problem is without knowing how good your computer is.

no lag or anything i don't know what everybody is talking about
It does suck, a few of my friends love singleplayer, they will be devastated.
