So the ender chest has a player-specific inventory. This poses a problem for a few pvp servers.
I play minecraft on multiplayer, but I usually only play on anarchy pvp-type servers. The ender chest could pose a great problem to the basis behind this type of gameplay. On a server where pvp is based on raiding and looting, then a player-specific chest could throw everything off, because everyone would just hide their items in an ender chest, and nobody else would ever be able to steal their valuables.
The addition of the ender chest seems like a good idea overall, but I'm kind of disappointed that anarchy servers will be so affected by this change (or they'll mod out the chest altogether).
It probably fuels more combat, because instead of people starting over every 5 seconds and having to re-mine all their stuff back, they can just grab the diamonds/iron from their chest and make a new set. You can destroy their chests so they have less resources to make more enderchests, but I think it makes the pvp better.
ON one hand, raiders get a new potential mission of destroying the enemy ender chest.
On the other, you have the problem of not really being able to get resources through raiding.
Before the Enderchest, raiding was a matter of getting resources. After the enderchest, raiding is now a matter of removing your enemies ability to use those resources.
Yeah, but you have to look at it like this; each player has a 27(?) space inventory in an enderchest, and if players live in a group on a pvp server, then each can store a different resources in the ender chest, and have lots of storage space. I could understand destroying the ender chest, but that would only pose a problem to a novice minecraft player. It would make sense to fuel the pvp combat on the server, because people would be less worried about guarding their valuables. However, when i play, I make it my goal to find the homes of other players and grief and steal. The ender chest would take a lot of the value and gain out of stealing.

So in a way it decreases the want to loot and makes you want to attack players to get drops. That would take away some of the fun but it makes 'chaos servers' a little more about pvp itself.

You are correct about it making actual PvP more prevalent, what about servers where the players are encouraged to make towns and permanent bases? Raiding other towns and fortresses is a huge part of those servers.

I see your point, that's a good way to look at it.
I feel that something needs to be done so that you can steal other peoples ender-inventories. As it stands, enderchests make raiding almost pointless.
You know servers can just not allow people to use Ender Chests right. They can blacklist the block.

Really it just makes eyes of ender more valuable. Since ender pearls are fairly easy to get I feel like blaze spawners will become hotspots of activity.

Don't play vanilla? You don't know **** about minecraft.
I don't really play on PvP servers but it seems to me that this would just add another layer of complexity to raiding and make it more interesting. If you knock out all their enderchests and find their stash of eyes of ender (which wouldn't make sense to hide in the enderchest) you could cripple them since logically they would hide all their most valuable stuff in there.
It would also give another reason to raid, factions who have had their enderchests destroyed may raid another base to access their supplies from an enemy enderchest. Although I imagine that would be pretty dangerous and foolhardy. But that's what PvP is about.
You could disable them, but that would be rather lame.

Any thoughts?
You only get one chest worth of storage, building more chests doesn't give you any more space. Frankly speaking, if you've only got one chest of goodies then you're probably not worth the time to start with.
I really don't see how this will affect the gameplay much at all. Sure, some people will use it to keep their diamonds and other rare items secured when they're offline, just like they already do by putting it into their inventory. Except now you can destroy the chest and they'll have to find or build another if they want their stuff back.

Yeah, maybe destroy their portals too. I find that funny, not being able to access your own items because you don't have the resources would be like forgetting all your information at the bank.
Ask someone to program a plugin! Find solutions to problems instead of moaning about them.
I'm not moaning, I'm saying that I feel something should be done. I just can't think of anything at the moment. My old idea of having you drop a few of your ender-chest items when you die got shot down, so I need to come up with something else.
Simply prevent the player from finding the components for ender chests. If anything, this helps people on PvP servers because it punishes you for not griefing at the first opportunity.

There should be a rare item found only at strongholds (or maybe at dungeons) that would allow you to access other people's ender inventory. But it would be quite rare and an 1-time use item.

It's big enough to stash all of your iron and diamonds in.
