I was looking at the new screenshots from jeb's twitter, and I noticed that the first one that didn't appear to have any new content may actually have an obvious secret:
Look closely at the road in the NPC village. The appearance is similar at first glance, but the texture, when closer examined, is not the same as gravel. It appears that the next update has either drastically changed the texture of gravel, or (more likely) added a new block to the game that serves as a new material for village roads. I personally think this is really cool, as I kind of hated the fugly gravel roads. Thoughts?
If this is an actual new block (and I'd be surprised if it wasn't) then I bet it's made from smelting gravel. Jeb got a suggestion like that awhile ago and thought it was a good idea.
See, I know it might be a re-texture, but it just doesn't really look like gravel. Looks more like a granite-rocky texture, IMO. Oh well though, guess we won't know till next thursday.
Also, Jeb hinted here that he is considering adding a new enchantment that causes mobs to drop more experience orbs which would greatly help when grinding for experience.

He just said it was a good idea, nothing about considering adding it. At for the wood, it is just grainy from a distance.
