"I sincerely hope the combination of SMP and SSP doesn't make it live." I said that I agree with this chap.
I always play SMP and I am fully aware of it's problems most of which haven't even been looked at in 1-2 years now.
When did I say I hate it?
Bottom line here, don't expect a bug/glitch free Single Player when 1.3 goes Live, if today's snapshot (SP/SMP Merge) is implemented.
They aren't just going to be like, "Hey, let's use this snapshot! It's buggy! Official release time!" They're going to fix the mobs first, I'm guessing, then work on the little things. And please give me an example of a bug that breaks Minecraft.
They are also working to stamp out all the bugs/glitches in SMP too, which is what they would need to achieve in order for it to be anywhere near like pocket edition by 1.3.
Yes, and I doubt they will eradicate every SMP bug by 1.3
And i just tested boats and I can't use them anymore because they don't respond to controls and just go in a straight line until you crash them THANKS MOJANG!!!!!
Guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.
Either they will finally, after all this time, actually fix everything that's wrong with SMP before they merge the two (which, as I said before, will make me dance a jig)...
Or they will do what the OP, I, and others are fearing the most, and not fix the bugs first, but simply turn SSP into the bug-filled pile of crap that SMP currently is. The only good thing about the latter is that they can't possibly leave it that way, so while the whole game will suck for a while, eventually everything will get fixed.
In the end, I'm sure it will all work out, it's just a matter of how badly they will break SSP in the meantime.
I hate it when Mojang forces me to use their snapshots that aren't complete products yet. How dare they!
Not going to quote all the posts.
That's totally sarcasm, and I get it, but sometimes I have to think twice and ask myself if the person posting isn't just being thick. There are people that actually say things like this and mean it genuinely.

And why would Mojang let that happen to SSP? The two modes are already merged with this snapshot. The only thing they need to do now is fix what bugs and streamline the entire process. Now, by fixing one set of issues, they fix the problem altogether across both multiplayer and singleplayer.
Chef: Alright people. Try out my new pizza recipe. It's got eggplant, I've never used it in pizza before but try it, tell me how it tastes and how I can improve it.
Kitchen Staff: [Tries the pizza]
Kitchen Staff: Tastes like ****!!! **** you!!! I hate you!!! I'm gonna tell management to fire the **** outta you!!! Go **** yourself!!!
I'm just totally amazed by the number of people that truly believe that all of the SMP bugs that Mojang has totally ignored since the creation of SMP, are going to all be completely fixed before the next update, because they think that Mojang is going to all of a sudden start to pay attention to them.
I really, really, truly hope that all of those amazingly optimistic people turn out to be right.

Well, the only way that analogy would work is if the chef had been serving delicious pepperoni pizza for years, and then gave people the opportunity to try a new recipe, with the caveat that it would eventually replace the current pizza recipe, only for those individuals to find that the chef had simply dumped a pot of unsold eggplant ice cream on top of the old pizza.
If you don't like bugs and problems, play snapshots so Mojang can learn about them and fix them.

Statistics show that people who tell others they need to get a new computer are twice as likely to use "gay" as a negative descriptor and will most likely never see genitals in real life, at least while not in prison.

Who said this? MC will always have some bugs that are overlooked.

they won't fix them all, but they will be able to focus on the big ones.
think about it, the only reason it took them so long to fix the minecart booster glitch was because the **** people gave them for it.
now if people would stop giving them **** about this, and actually help them. they will be able to get things done.
Well, pretty much everyone in this thread that keeps saying "don't worry that the snapshot put all of the SMP bugs that have been in the game forever into SSP as well, Mojang is going to finally fix all of them!"
Hell, I'd settle for "most" of them, or even just the worst ones. If this gets them to finally fix some of the SMP crap, it would all be worth it.
now if people would stop giving them **** about this, and actually help them. they will be able to get things done.
Help them? That's EXACTLY what we are trying to do!! Here, watch:
Hey Mojang! You know all the broken **** in SMP? Since you are dumping all that into SSP now, maybe you could finally fix it! That would be swell!
There, I helped!
(If they need more help, like exactly what the SMP bugs are, they can refer to the myriad of other threads that riddle these forums. I'd like to think they are already well aware of them though.)
Well, pretty much everyone in this thread that keeps saying "don't worry that the snapshot put all of the SMP bugs that have been in the game forever into SSP as well, Mojang is going to finally fix all of them!"
I've yet to see that. What I have seen is people say that the bugs are now singular issues and Mojang kills two birds with one stone by fixing one set of bugs now.

Those individuals are the kitchen staff.
I haven't downloaded the snapshot because I don't wanna have the burden of testing another buggy game. The snapshot's not for everyone, just like the chef new recipe isn't served to the bloody customers just yet.
Try making a bloody game for once and test it yourself. It's bloody ****ing difficult. There are bugs everywhere and it'll give you headaches.
If you don't wanna have to deal with bugs then don't download the ****ing snapshot.
my god, people, settle down! you've got to actually read into what a feature is before you rage about it!
~SSP will not turn completely into SMP. what actually WILL happen is that it stays SSP until you invite someone, and then the world makes its transition into SMP.
~because of this, a TON of the SMP bugs will be fixed almost immediately, and if they aren't they'll be fixed pretty damn fast. Mojang has the Bukkit team with them now, for god's sake!! they fixed the annoying TNT ghost and dead mob ghost bugs instantly!
~the coding will be merged, so that means WAY faster updates and WAY faster mod creation.
~it will probably bypass the need to port forward, making it so much easier to host servers, especially for people like me who's parents have changed the router password and wont tell me what it is.
~the only reason why its forcing so much stuff right now is because its in the very earliest stage of development. there is going to be issues.
i support the change, and tell all the people who DON'T to read through the thread before hating.
When something has been a bug in SMP for many versions, and running the SSP as single-player SMP causes that exact same thing to happen, it's pretty unlikely that the bug is a momentary issue caused by snapshot-ness. Also, Mojang does not fix bugs in any kind of timely manner - they just don't. It takes them many versions, and I see no reason that would magically change overnight.
Now sure, these may or may not be "game breaking", but I see no reason I'd want to deal with bad collision detection, glitchy mob movement, or any of the other SMP irritations - for no actual benefit.
The only thing I actually think they'll fix between the snapshot and the release is the not being able to pause thing, because that's:
1) Probably pretty straightforward.
2) A deal-breaker for many people, where other things may just be annoyances.
Why is everyone whining abnd moaning about this? NO ONE is forcing you to play SMP, it's OPTIONAL to let you invite your friends or whoever ino your world. They are joining the two for this reason. The bugs you get in smp are often due to the server, NOT minecraft.
So yes, you can play SSP, just as you always ave. with the ADDED OPTION, as in YOU DON'T HAVE TO IF YOU DON'T WANT TO to invite people to that map and 'host' a server from your system.
Don't try out the snapshot if it causes this much problem. How stupid do you have to be? I hope you get slapped in the face by your first born child for complaining about this.

Best game ever: Ace of Spades FREE FPS minecraft-like game.

Finally, someone who understands that coding is difficult. I tried making a text-based rpg with python and that was hard enough! This is a much much much more advanced game than that.

Guys....
Mojang will work to fix these bugs...
The official release would be much better...
calm down...
play Minecraft...
have fun...
