I learned how much of a fat, greedy liar he was the day he posted "I never once advertised on /v/" and then it seemed like the entire internet came out providing links FROM HIS TWITTER to his posts on /v/ advertising. And people STILL defend the guy.
So funny haha. I never even saw what you're talking about but it's such an obvious and easy viral tactic that I was sure he was doing it without even looking into it too much

"When we release a pure bugfix update, people get VERY upset ("NOTHING CHANGED!").. Adding features gives us much happier users. But I do realize that it's only happier users in the short term." - Notch
After having built a level in Creative or Survival mode, you and your friends connect to another fortress made by some other people. The map gets bigger so it fits both maps, and you play a game on this map. Perhaps Capture the Flag, perhaps something else.
The good news is that people are FINALLY starting to recognize that Jens has been the only one actually working since he was hired back in 2010. Thankfully, he isn't a *insert insult here* like Notch was and actually works.
Notch wasn't lazy, he worked on the game from when it began to the release - which is what most normal game developers do.
I learned how much of a fat, greedy liar he was the day he...
Woah, calm down there hater.
I'm no Notch fanboy or anything. I'm a little disappointed too, that some features he promised still haven't come through, and might never, and I fully support Jeb and the rest working on the game now, but there's no need for hate.
He obviously isn't greedy because we hear about him donating and funding things all the time, for example the 3 million he gave to his employees earlier in the year. And his body mass doesn't have anything to do with anything, bringing that up is uncalled for.
Also, calling him a liar is, I think, incorrect. Notch is a very 'noisy' developer. He likes to voice his ideas and bounce them off other people, considering things and then maybe discarding the idea. Capture the Flag is one of these ideas. Perhaps once, when the themes and gameplay of Minecraft was still in flux, this and other ideas may have been viable. As development progresses however ideas are discarded as they wouldn't fit. Just because he doesn't tell us about the ideas he has discarded, doesn't mean he is a liar.
Also, the reason people are defending Notch is not because they are stupid or ignorant or ignore things they don't want to hear, it's because they understand that not everyone is perfect and people can change their mind, and they want to fight against the hate of the people that don't understand this. Like what I'm trying to do now.
Even if Notch suddenly where to return and fulfill all promises, DaBiggman will be able to find grounds for hate. That is who he is. It's hopefully an act he perform here at the forum, but he's so good at it that I've given up trying to find reason.
It's ridiculous how people think they're entitled to certain things with this game. You bought it in its as-is state at the time you purchased it. Everything else is extra. Feel happy you're getting a ton of additional content for FREE. If I remember correctly, the payment plan he laid out in Alpha left the door open for him to charge for any additional content to anyone who didn't purchase the game in Alpha.
Jens actually listens to the community and has continued to work on the game.
Notch collected his money and quit.
Except Notch did the same things Jeb is doing now, the difference is: you choose to ride jeb's jock every chance you get when: 1) neither jeb nor notch are spectacular super-coders 2) neither one work any faster/harder on ideas (not promises) than the other 3) both have hired more proficient coders when the workload and expectations were too demanding. But I'm sure you'll ignore these facts and point out something like "BUT FISH WEREN'T ADDED" or something equally retarded and unrelated.

He didn't quit, he moved on to other games. He still works on Minecraft, he's just not head developer for it anymore. I agree, Jeb listens to the community more, but you make it sound like Notch just completely abandoned his hit game.

It's annoying how people assume that Notch just left the game because of money and laziness. He has added more stuff to his own game than Jeb has, but people still worship Jeb thinking Notch is an idiot. Notch is a good developer, why can't people realize it? Jeb DOES listen to the community however it was still up to Notch to create his fantasy, his game. Imagine if Minecraft was just released on that one November day without beta testing?

Maybe I ramble too much. That's a good thing !
The original poster of that, DaBiggman, made a "nice" flamebait.
Notch should wake up, just because he made one good game it doesn't mean all his ideas are gold. I mean, a 8-Bit space game with monthly fees? What the ****? He keeps making games, but never finishes anything.
Can you explain to me what this game is? I know notch is working on a 3D First person Sci-fi game with a 16-bit programmable computer that will be singleplayer as well as multiplayer with montly fees to pay for the server to make multiplayer possible, but what is this 8-bit game you're talking about? Enlighten me.

Don't bother feeding flamers, just ignore them, they will go away after they realise you aren't listening to them.
I believe Notch did a brilliant job with Minecraft, It usually takes a group of over 100 people to make a game very popular, but Notch ended up doing it by himself. It was extremly popular even before Mojang was created and Minecraft was picked up by Curse. Jeb is also to be credited with helping the game, because he has, with the aid of other coders, added quite a bit to the game.

Notch made a TON of far-fetched promises that he never came through on. The dude quit, and all his "promises" became empty lies.
Notch has druing the development process been open and shared his idea's and toughts on his blogg and twitter.
When a developer like notch says he plans to, its not a promise it is an expression of what he wish to be able to implement in the future.
Jens actually listens to the community and has continued to work on the game.

He didn't just collect his money and quit. He made a game, and quit working on it to work on other things. He's a game developer, he didn't devote his life to Minecraft.

Notch NEVER promised CTF. http://notch.tumblr.com/post/108596899/some-thoughts-on-game-modes That's the blog post where he talks about CTF. The TITLE of the blog post is "Some thoughts on game modes", so it was never confirmed.
^Even more proof he never promised it.

huh, sometimes I forget about that place, some of my very early internet youth spent there, what a crazy place it is.

This will be referenced long into the future.
