One thing I am noticing that is REALLY getting on my nerves.
Cats immedately jump onto chests and sit during rain. You cannot open the chests.
CAT SITS ON CHEST, NO OPENY.
During rain (ALL WEATHER), cats sprint to chests or beds, sit and are impossible to move unless the cat is pushed off and quickly told to sit while on the floor.
CANNOT MAKE CATS STAND WHILE ON BEDS OR CHESTS.
Also noted, when cats are on the ground (natural ground) they will follow you into the rain no problem.
I don't know what they act like when the rain stops, but i'll post soon.
Made cats more realistic (read: probably annoying). I hope it’s enough to cancel out any joy you may receive from the previous feature!
Just fix the unable to open chests and we're good.
EDIT This applies to all weather conditions, and any time of day.
This problem makes it impossible for cats to follow you because they immedately run to a chest and sit if you push them off.
The only way i see remeding this is to have the cats have a barn of their own, or moving your chests and items to a room where they cannot go.

I love the sound of pork chops gently fapping upon the shore.
You can stack chests on each other and still open them. Stack two chests against a wall, and the cats shouldn't be able to jump up there.
What I'm curious about is, is this a bug or did some wiseguy over at Bukkit think it was a good idea to have cats go from creeper defenders to pesky trolls.
Oh, and imagine a griefer with a dozen or so cats following him. He enters a house, and sees a couple of chests. Instead of breaking them, the cats sit on them, and the owner has to waste time either trying to get them off or killing them.
This is the type of half-assed thinking that has plagued Mojang since the beginning. You want to make cats sit on chests and "troll" us fine. I'm cool with that, but then also give us a way to easily get them out of the way so we can do what we need to do.
My kitchen is really small with hardly any space and since I couldn't move my cat out of the way, because he can only be pushed and I couldn't stand on my chest, I had to kill him.
thanks mojang for adding more half-assed, poorly thought through crap into the game. It shouldn't take ten updates for an idea to be thought out properly. SMH

1 million times yes.
I think this is an incredibly stupid feature from what I've read, though I haven't been able to test it myself. Do cat's jump on chests and beds in all weather or just rain? And how would you possibly get the cat away from the chest without pushing it far enough so that it doesn't just jump back up?
I havent logged in to test it yet but have you tried using raw fish to trick them off the chest? In 1.2.3 they would chase it like farm animals do wheat. I kinda like this change though, I just wish they would replace cat sitting with cat laying for the realism

This works but I'm not sure if it is a bug or not. They will un-sit and you can lure them like ocelots.
Please stop with the "creeper proof" nonsense. Cats don't make you creeper proof they just help you a little.
I took my cat out to see how "creeper proof" I was and after almost dying thanks to creepers blowing up in my face because my cat was 20 feet behind me. I decided there was no point in taking my cat outside with me.

You don't walk around with your cat to be creeper proof.
You set him in your house to keep creepers away from your house.
You're doing it wrong.
I think the point of the update (Besides making cats act more like cats) is to make it possible to give one location creeper protection, instead of having a creeper-proof bubble of overpoweredness around you. I agree that the chest thing is annoying, but until it gets fixed, just raise your chests in the air, use storage minecarts, or cover them with stairs/slabs.
It's a great counter-feature to the advantage of being creeper-proof. It's perfect if you ask me!
Only if you are near the cat. I found cats useless, even though I like cats, I only used them once, just cuz.
In caves I simply keep the sound high and play no music, that way I can hear every foot step. 9 times out of 10 I can detect a creeper before it detects me.
I have noticed that the cats adore the chests too. It's one way of avoiding the nucence of creepers blowing up your chests, which does happen occasionally, it's just bad luck.
I have always placed my chests in alcoves and with the evention of the half blocks you can limit the space between the chest and the top fo the alcove by half a block. Kitties can't sit there. You can put beds in alcoves and still use them. I don't know about you, but having chests situated against a wall, tends to make your work space ugly and unneseccarily cluttered.
I have a picture, but i can't upload it to the forum it seems, and i don't have a place where I can upload pictures to give a clean url.

I feel no sympathy for you guys. They are cats, deal with it.

A double resolution texture pack that stays faithful to the original Minecraft textures.

one, it balances out the awesome effect of making you creeper-proof
two, they are cats. cats tend to be like this. it shouldnt take much for you to catproof your stuff anyway.
