While messing around with the new stone brick I discovered somthing kind of cool, when you spawn silver fish near the new stone brick they go "inside" of it and the block turns into a regular stone brick. if you then break that block a silver fish pops out!!!

Yeah, I noticed this, too. It's most likely a bug, because the new block uses the same data as the other stone bricks. So, when its state changes to "full of silverfish", it turns into the normal stone brick.
I am pretty sure the new brick is just a damage value of stone brick, like cracked and mossy stone brick. So technically it is the exact same block as the stone brick only with a different texture. So that is why silver fish live in them.

It's also why they turn back into stone bricks when silverfish inhabit them. Heaven forbid we receive a "wooden brick" with the same data value, or we will all be forced to MINE them instead of CHOP them.
