It has gotten easier, but mostly from the enchantments and stuff. But also annoying, dumb dumb dumb zombies knocking down my door and trying to cross my dock.
Actually, minecraft 1.8 was much harder than 1.7. I say this because 1.8 had the bug involving the new explosion effect, this lead to creepers taking away a LOT more. Which wasn't a problem unless you were playing on a server, where your ping can equal the creeper hugging you server side by the time it is just in range of your sword client side.
No, minecraft was underdone before. Diamonds have always been pretty hard to get, but now with enchantments there is an even higher tier of tool. Farming was designed to produce products in abundance. Minecraft was an incomplete game back then, now it's actually got some features with RPG elements, which I like.
I fail to see how MC has became an RPG. If anything I think the little villagers are cute to spawn hundereds of them in the streets of my modern metropolis to make it look alive. I wish they were smart enough touse the subway on their own though XD
Theres not really much RPG elements unless you make it that way.
Minecraft is more of a "it is what you make it" kind of game. I don't play on survival too much anymore because I am working on a large city, but some survival is nice once in a while. I don't feel like I'm playing an rpg.
--Pertaining to underground resources, what made alpha 'so great' to me was that they were deeper underground and charcoal didn't exist. In alpha everything was still pretty common, but the first couple of days were crazy simply because you pretty much had to go in a dark cave to get the coal, not to mention skeletons have double the rate of fire they do now. Other then that alpha was no different. The thing that makes alpha better then the current version is that you had work hard for resources the first couple days.
Even being a pro, going back and playing alpha was different because I was still stumbling in the dark and hiding the first couple days. I would rather even have ores rarer and mobs harder, but they will never add a 'hard' to vanilla worth playing. I still have to resort to mods for a minecraft I can call minecraft.
"It's as hard as you want it to be."
If I have to make-believe a difficulty in, I simply don't have the self-control for it. Make a hard that isn't the same as easy and THEN we can talk..
Diamond sword? Iron sword? Potions? Sprinting? Enchants? Health Regen? Armor? Who needs them in vanilla when you have stone swords and nudity? When you make the mobs hit harder, and make ores sufficiently uncommon, the game feels more authentic, no more walking around with a sugarcane killing mobs and pretending that you can make it difficult yourself without loosing hope in the game.
Minecraft has always been pathetically easy, but yes, there's so much crap, especially that which is totally unrelated to mining or crafting.

In my honest opinion. They overdid minecraft, it's not even fun to play anymore. Everything is soooo easy to get. I sat and mined for 3 hours yesterday and had 19 diamonds in the end.
Remember in 1.7.3 it wasn't as easy to get mushrooms, Sugar canes etc. I'm not saying it was hard, but i mean. The game really is overdone, if anyone knows where i can find 1.7.3 files, i would love to know.
thats because in 1.7.3 you were probably still learning that Diamonds spawn in sector form, now you just know to go down to that layer depth and branch out, derp derp derp.

Villagers need to turn into zombies once killed by a zombie... March 24th 2012
What in the world are you going about? Sugar cane was just as easy to obtain in 1.7.3 compared to now, and mushrooms were even more easy to obtain because they would endlessly spread. Diamond frequency never changed from 1.7.3 to now. But if you really want to downgrade you could always use MCnostalgia.
Tools dig faster now, even if not enchanted. Things like redstone used to take forever to mine. Enchantments can speed mining up extremely and increase durability a ton. You can alst get an enchant that gives double drops. So getting diamonds is now much easier.
Maybe you are just getting to good at minecraft. It used to take me around 30mins. to get a music disc from a creeper and now i can get 2 or 3 in one night
Remember that?
24 diamonds = godmode for pretty much a week unless you go swimming in a bath of lava....
Which you could actually do in 1.0 for a reasonable amount of time, lmao.
