Is there a way to disable/hide the little "!" triangles on the profile icons? I clicked on "don't show again for this profile" but it still shows the "warning" icon on everything that isn't the latest release or snapshot.
I've not found any, only that you can set 'modded' the same way as release, snapshot and historical versions as visible I guess. There is nothing else in the launcher you can do to disable it.
It makes sense to have the old version or modded warnings but it's the same issue I have with the 'experimental settings' warnings for datapacks. People using them know what their doing and getting into, we aren't going to blame Mojang for fan content creations/something not in their hands and older versions are not supported obviously, and those that use old versions either prefer 1.8.9 for PVP or for mods like on 1.7.10 and 1.12.2, they are happy/don't care.
And the usual person updates anyways not just because of security but because they want to use the new content anyways so I don't really see a reason to have the warnings other than for however many people that doesn't understand and they have to cover themselves for the few that don't get it or make it clear to people there is an update? But for the modded side of things only a certain sized community knows how/uses mods, and otherwise when it comes to updates to the game people usually know anyways how to go about updating the game or they stick with the same version if they are happy.
It's just more annoying every time rather than helpful I've found when using the Curseforge launcher with it (as I use third party launchers for better management of mod installs/modpacks).
Windows/Operating System Updates sure it makes sense for security and additional features, and I guess the Minecraft launcher does benefit from them to let people know about Realms or security reasons but then again that's only if your on a server. Maybe it may help parents or kids but I can't really tell of course but I would assume most have Bedrock then Java. I'm not effected if I'm in Singleplayer and people that know mods or new to mods 'should' get the idea that Forge, Fabric and other content is not owned by Mojang and only shown to the community like when they show off worlds or probably some Redstone Contraptions/Resource Pack maybe.
It makes sense to have the warnings for informing players but at the same time even if to avoid getting flak for not including warnings (and I guess to be seen more professional?) I do find it really annoying rather than beneficial for the player every time I want to use the launcher. While I'm on break from making reviews of mods on older versions it's still annoying for the odd testing with modpacks/singleplayer world playthrough I want to do.
I can use a mod to remove experiment settings but I can't the launcher.
I know it's a bit of pointless comment/rant but eh. The more Mojang has does in this way has me more confused at who it's for if those I assume it's for aren't even going to be using mods or are happy on old versions and effecting those that know what their doing/taking the risk knowing anyways.
Newer game versions (1.16.4 and up) using a Microsoft account
Parental controls, allowing guardians to disable the Chat and Multiplayer features for child accounts in your Xbox account settings. The Social Interactions screen, which enables you to view all players on the server, hide their chat messages, or block them using your Microsoft account.
Newer game versions (1.16.4 and up) using a Mojang Account
The Social Interactions screen, which enables you to view all players on the server and hide their chat messages.
Older game versions (below 1.16.4) We don’t provide player safety features for versions below 1.16.4.
Likewise, they can't guarantee the safety of modded versions so they display a similar message regardless of the version (I assume, the launcher only says that my custom modded versions based on 1.6.4 are modified, not outdated, so it either can't detect the version or the modded warning takes precedence). Either way, you can ignore the message if you know what you are doing (I only use my own mods so I can 100% guarantee that they are safe, plus these "safety features" pertain to multiplayer, which I do not play or support).
Also, IMO the launcher should give a warning any time you run any older or modded version in the same game directory as a newer or vanilla version (including any version available in the launcher) - way too many bugs, crashes, and corrupted worlds have occurred due to this (my own modded versions use their own custom "optionstmcw.txt" file, which is also fully validated when loaded so incorrect settings do not cause any issues, but that still doesn't ensure that resource packs and saves are separate - downgrading by just one version can completely ruin a world).
