hello, so i was hosting a snapshot server recently but i soon was annoyed by updating the server all the time a new snapshot was released.
so i created a little script for windows users that updates the server and also creates a backup.
all you have to do is download the batch file from the google drive link and move it in your minecraft server folder.
once you run it it checks if there is a server already installed
so if you have your server already set up you can just hit "U"
if you want to reinstall the server you can hit i (because i was bored so i created an installer too)
after that it asks you whether you were using a snapshot version or a stable version, so in this case hit s
if you were to use this tool for normal vanilla servers you can hit n
after that it prompts you with a verification (if not your server is up to date, but you can still install a different version)
press y to continue the update
press s to switch to a stable version
press c to install a custom stable version (like minecraft 1.9 for example)
now it will create a world backup and a server.jar backup, just in case you want to switch back (the backups can be found in their folders)
when the download is completed the program will close after 10 seconds
but explaining it really is harder than trying it for yourself
if you want to try out the program you can just place it in an empty folder and install a new server in literally no time
download the script here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BOGvWeTTdIqUspHqqFDx5xfxqYXVCDVb
