They're too big. I get that they shouldn't be less than a single pixel big, even if that'd be more realistic, but they're still far too big for my taste, especially considering how small Minecraft's Bats' bodies are (visually) (while bats are much bigger than bees in real life).
I also don't like that part of their eyes "bleed over" from the front of their head to the side of their head (much like Minecraft 1.14's Foxes' eyes), but I can change that for my own experience using a resource pack.
Other than that... I don't see why yet, but I also don't see why not, if that makes sense.
I have never been this excited for a feature before. Beekeeping is something I've wanted to see in vanilla for years.
I do agree that the bees are too big though, and I think the beehives are kind of ugly. This old reddit post has some very nice examples of what bees and beehives could look like. I just wish I knew how to properly forward it to Mojang..
Don't judge the entire update base on one feature that you don't like. 1.15 could end up being something great. As for bees, well, I quite like them. I think they add life to Minecraft. I do agree, they are too big.
I like them. They fit in so well that I'm almost surprised not to see them buzzing around my main world. Yes, they're big, but so are spiders, silverfish and endermites. In a world with floating boulders and a personal sun, they're not that weird.
I hate them, they look ugly, and to big, they have no use what dose minecraft have use for bee's, Honey is cool and all but unless they are revamping food so you can make honey infused soup and other foods it's not needed, are they going to add Winnie the Pooh to terrorize them or are they just adding bees for the fun of it sorta like bats? The only use i can think of is finally having a small flying mob that actually is a challenge but also helpful in some way if "tamed" like they try to do with everything but also barley do anything at the same time.
I just think minecraft is going to add them for the same reason as dolphins and to some part the turtles were added, just so people think about them and the real problems their facing in the real world and not for players to interact with and face challenges with and eventually overcome in some way, like them not allowing players to ride Dolphins "Cause its not humain" ... in a block game.. at least they give us the "Dolphins Grace" but it isn't as cool as being to ride a dolphin as your sea transportation/ upgrade to a boat :/
(At least we can still ride skeleton horses under water but you drown and can only go up if the horse can touch the ground under water that is going up to normal land. (there should be Drowned versions of the zombie horses)
Honey I find from messing around with it has a very good use, topping off your hidden hunger saturation! Even with full hunger bar you can keep drinking honey and top off your saturation it would seem! After drinking a few when full hunger bar, I was able to run for a long distance before starting to deplete hunger and this means it can be good to have a good helping of honey before going into dangerous situations so one regens health a lot more as well when injured.

I think the concept of bees is fantastic, and I like the actual functionality of the beehives, pollination, honey blocks, etc.
However, in terms of the design of the bees themselves, Mojang leaned way too hard into the "cute" angle, and the resulting design looks absolutely awful. They're way too large, and the "cute" design is actually far more annoying than it is cute. Mojang needs to listen to the community and give them a redesign, make them a bit smaller (you don't have to adhere to fractional proportions of actual game blocks, Mojang, just shrink them down until it feels appropriate, there is no reason they should be any larger than a baby chicken), and tone down the whole "cute" factor. They're going to be cute anyway, don't annoy us with the extra saccharine overload.
The bees are nice. They are a great new mob. What bothers me is that they are to big. The size is so annoying. They look like flying yellow boxes and that's what bothers me. What they do is nice, but the design is awful.
I think they could have used more purposes but for just being another creature/mob, with a fair amount to do there fine (mods can always fill in the gap but it would have been nice all the same, maybe more Christmas features, we had fireworks in 1.4.6 for new years/other reasons so it would work, that or more spring themed content), their size never bothered me but I can see how they would.
The rest of the update being tweaks and small features I'd prefer as we got 3 big updates already (1.12, 1.13 & 1.14) and with Mojang wanting 2 updates per year I'm not against this update, I've wanted a small one to chill in not hundreds of content every time not only due to waiting so long but just due to how much I actual use or how quick I'd get sick of it.
When 1.5 with redstone blocks, quartz and comparators I thought was a good update, while 1.10 & 1.11 were fine I don't remember them very well or use the features from them, I had more fun with mods in those versions than the regular game's features.
I hope to use bees maybe but the honey blocks giving me a parkour map idea is enough for me even though I'm more for blocks like the blast furnace as someone into technical stuff but the small tweaks do give some nice benefits and the new Blaze 3D is probably the right direction for the game too so while not much content it was either 1.13 with technical changes and no aquatic features or something this small of an update block/item/mob wise and we had to have one at some point.
I'd call this a fine update, as good as 1.5 probably not, as forgettable/not as fun accessibility wise as 1.10 though, eh not likely, I'd say in the middle.

I don't care about their size, I don't care about their appearance, I don't care about their (at most) marginal usefulness. I have completely different problems with them, which are these:
1. They took 8 months to implement a half-baked idea revolving around where their tax dollars are going (the WWF) rather than adding things relevant to mining or crafting like chisels or paint. It was already possible to make essentially an "instafarm" prior to this, as SciCraft has developed. The practical value of the update is not great.
2. Their behavior in the game is idiosyncratic and not representative of actual honey bee behavior because they were too lazy to add "flowering" states to crops, and furthermore, if human beings started a gigantic monoculture of honey bees as is encouraged in this then biodiversity would quickly be eliminated, not promoted. CCD occurs because bees are too similar, not because we're not doing enough to breed them. Thus, the educational value of the update is moot.
3. I took a short trip to the Nether and when I had come back, all my 10 bees had either flown off or disappeared entirely. Thus there are still some bugs to work through, and I don't mean the cutesy idiomatic puns that are used on the Youtube channel, I mean literally there is no reason for me to bother with these things until the game is fixed. Thus it is poorly programmed.
So in conclusion, the bee update is misleading, poorly programmed, and from a game design standpoint only has very marginal early game usefulness. It's a vanity project that has spilled over onto our disk and traded compatibility for a feature I will probably ignore. Forget their size, forget their anime faces, these are ignorable criticisms in a game virtually comprised of placeholder graphics. Maybe the best thing I can say about this update is that it will be very easy to roll back and ignore.
I think they are going to bring awareness to the bee population decline that will cause some of our food to not easily pollinate which is going to be global crisis years down the line once they go to low enough levels.
This is the sort of thing I'm talking about. It takes exhaustive individual research to actually understand the issue outside of Minecraft. Your average 9-year-old oscillating back and forth between MC and Fortnite is going to see this and just have some muddied, faint understanding that the bees responsible for honey are having some kind of problem. This will evolve into them understanding that they are endangered, which is false, while thinking that the solution is to breed them obsessively, which is also false. At best the presence of the bees is no more instrumental educationally as having cow's milk in the game to bring awareness to antibiotic-resistant bacteria. It's totally tangential to a real understanding of what the issue is. Add Nosema apis and Salmonella to the game and we'll start to see just how cute little honey bee and cow farms are. You and all your stock will be dead before you gather up enough ender pearls to reach the End - something still annoyingly half-implemented.
I thought bees were a great idea and I still do even when using them briefly (as I'm a mod/datapack spotlighter mostly more of my time with them has been mods/datapacks and working out the Vanilla differences). But even with the update being mostly bug fixes, fixing performance and needed quality of life features I wanted this update more than a 4th 'we added lots of stuff and the game will be more bloated and break' updates.
I enjoy 1.13/1.14 a lot as 1.12.2 and prior even with mods I got bored going between 1.2.5 to 1.7.10 and through 1.8 to 1.12.2 and 1.13+ has been fun modded/using datapacks or Vanilla with the new blocks and features but even for how simple the bees are I got to say it's nice. Honey blocks for redstone/parkour, bees for breeding and mod support adding forestry levels of resource gains, uses for flowers besides dyes or decoration (I don't really use flowers so it will get me to use them more or want to find a flower plains). 1.15 to me is like 1.5, I use Redstone blocks, Hoppers and Quartz, I might not comparators but even if it's storage blocks to fit resources in my chests, or a transportation method other than water or what mods add I'm open to using them. I might be a player who prefers blocks with interfaces but if a good mob and features surrounding them is introduced I'll use them.
I think bees give reasons to use things not used much or opens new areas for datapacks/mods. Bees aren't much but they were a needed addition I find unlike some updates ago that I've used once and never again due to world gen, rewards or mobs (1.10 being that version, but I love the version for the mods for it, not the update itself) that while adding more to the world I have no use for breeding, taming, riding or harvesting like polar bears. As someone that doesn't mind decorations/building or more life to the world if I never see them or they don't have enough uses for me in the game besides looking pretty or giving more beings to suit biomes I'll ignore them, I like functionality and polar bears did nothing for me (I don't find cold biomes much, and getting fish from them is a waste to me), bees do even with how little they added, being honey blocks, nests, hives, honeycombs and so on.
i don’t like the 1.15 update
I mean I really HATE it

its like flying bowling balls with stingers, they gotta make them the size of baby chickens

they are lit
Their sheer size amuses me. Bumbling boxes bigger than chickens. I don't see anything wrong with that.
Figured it was time for a change.

They're adorable, and honey bottles are really nice
wack
The bees are a decent new idea, but they're too big.
I like the idea of bees, But Mojang needs to attempt to remake the idea.
