Looks like we're going to be voting on updating more biomes before the other two from last year are gotten to, that's unexpected.
Who'd vote for a mega-rare biome like Badlands? I'm not sure which of the other two to pick... Swamps are extremely dull, but I spend much more time in mountains, and they could use some love too.

Oh for gosh sakes not this voting tomfoolery again. ...Although I wouldn't mind seeing mountains get de-uglified to something like the pre-1.7 mountains/extreme hills.
This is actually incredibly frustrating. With a team of 25 now, they should have been able to push out the other biome updates by now, but instead we are down to 1 single update per year and those other biomes are being ignored. Everyone is all mad at Microsoft, I'm mad at them for not really bringing down the hammer on these devs for how slow they are.
It is certainly preposterous. The Pretty Scary Update had a development time of 2-3 months and it changed the game in many ways. I can understand taking a bit more time to make sure stuff is ported and what with the upcoming spin-offs, but aren't both of those being handled by separate teams? Nobody should be blaming Microsoft, knowing Mojang this is more up to sheer incompetence. I know they're capable of being competent developers as we saw in 2012/2013 and update aquatic. The latter especially was a pleasant surprise and remains one of my favorite updates, period.
All that said... It's looking like 1.15 will be a smaller one, at least that's the impression I'm getting. I hope we see more arthropod enemies keeping in line with the "bugs" part of the name. As it stands bane of arthropods is one of, if not the worst enchantment you can get on a sword given such mobs already go down quickly.

We definitely disagree there. I think the current mountains are magnificent, the best the game has yet seen. (I've been playing since a month before the Halloween Update, for reference.)

I'm still not sure if the "Bees and Bugs" thing was a joke or not. It seems unlikely that they'd blow the big reveal at MineCon ahead of time!
Good point about needing more arthropods to make the enchantment interesting, though!
So it turns out 1.15 is a Nether Update and it looks fantastic!
In Minecon they introduced the honey block, which you can slide down, target blocks, where the closer you shoot to the bullseye the higher the redstone output is, the mountain biome update (snowier snow, new mountain designs, & goats) and of course the nether features.
In the nether section, they announced 2 biomes and 2 mobs. The 2 biomes are the soulsand valley and the netherwart forest. The soulsand valley has stalactites and fossils. The netherwart forest is a very compact forest with new wood, and a hostile food source (which makes the nether habitable), the Piglin Beast. It looks like a pig ravager. It's named after the Piglins, which I think is going to be a replacement for pigmen. They have leathery skin and leave you alone if you have gold armor on. However, if you look through their chests, they become hostile and attack you.
The Piglin Beast and Piglin.
I'm super excited about this update, we haven't seen anything new in the nether for quite a while.
Holy smokes! Should there be a new thread for 1.16 discussion? Hot diggity devil this is exciting! The textures following in usual Jappa fashion are poor quality but that's just about the only real complaint I have thus far. ...All this said, this changes my view of 1.15 from indifferent to dislike. I was really hoping we would see new arthropod enemies.
One oddity of the current situation is that we know the name of 1.16 (the Nether Update) but not 1.15!
At any rate, it sounds like they're planning to push 1.15 out quickly. It's a small update, reminiscent of Frostburn.
EDIT: An oddity I noticed wrt the Piglins. They're always hostile (unless you're wearing gold armor), but the zombie versions of them aren't. What's up with that? Is it like how regular zombies only attack humans (or villagers)?
I wonder if Piglins will drop cooked porkchops the way zombie pigmen used to.
1.15 will also have a rewrite of the rendering system, that's creating a ton of bugs and it's barely started. I'm thinking of it as what 1.13 was originally intended as, a mainly technical update with minimal new content.
It's just bees right now and they will update one of the biomes.
They will add more stuff after that.
Actually, we know that the mountains biome will not be updated in 1.15. It was implied that it won't even be in 1.16.
Though you're right that we haven't seen all of 1.15 yet. I personally suspect that most of its changes will be "under the hood" - a mostly technical update.
Sometimes we forget that Minecraft is not an only-Mojang's enterprise anymore... Mojang is subservient to Microsoft and all the other studios that make Minecraft for other platforms, so they can't rush content without waiting for the others to keep pace with them.
I just noticed that 19w36a added a new entity tag, beehive_inhabitors. Currently it only tags bees... But there's no real point in adding an entity tag for only one entity.
So I'm guessing that we're going to see another arthropod mob after all. At a guess, killer bees, since they're known for invading honeybee hives. But conceivably wasps or hornets.
Hmm. I just noticed that 19w36a added y-values to biome information. This opens up the possibility of underground biomes, among other things.
Perhaps 1.16 will be the cave update, and 1.15 is laying the groundwork for it.
3d biomes would also open up the Nether and End to some interesting possibilities.

Figured it was time for a change.

Wow. Today's snapshot adds quite a lot of power to commands and loot tables!

The Nether Update will be 1.16 actually as confirmed on Twitter.
Huh. So 1.15 really will be just bees and bugs, then.
1.16 is shaping up to be amazing, though!

For my personal opinion, it's just too soon to ask since not all updates are released at this time.
I would wait to pre-releases to ask opinions.

Mojang did a great job making their release schedule as cluttered and confusing as possible.
Sometimes we forget that Minecraft is not an only-Mojang's enterprise anymore... Mojang is subservient to Microsoft and all the other studios that make Minecraft for other platforms, so they can't rush content without waiting for the others to keep pace with them.
I don't think it's good or bad. I'm happy that new things are added, but I feel like moving away from the old minecraft.
