The new buffet world generation in 18w16a for me has opened a completely new aspect to the game one problem I am having though is that trees won't spawn in a nether world type. I assume the cause is probably the light level but was wondering if someone could help find out how to naturally generate trees in the nether world type?
Trees only generate on grass or dirt blocks with a direct view of the sky, so they can only generate on the uppermost layers (if there is room); the light level doesn't matter. Also, tall grass should not generate either because it requires light (unlike trees it is placed at a random elevation within a chunk), I presume this is due to a bug that has been in the game since 1.7 (tall grass/flowers commonly spawn in pitch black caves due to not checking the light level, and also do not uproot in the dark).
It is a Nether generation which was edited with NBTExplorer which means that the map is completely covered with a bedrock ceiling (No clear view of the sky) which creates pitch black caves. So in these conditions trees won't naturally spawn is there any way to change the way that a direct view of the sky is needed so that trees and other plants can generate on all levels with a dirt block and not uproot? Basically, stop the game from checking light levels before spawning plants?
Also, trees do naturally spawn but only on the bedrock ceiling where conditions are met (Around water pools spawning on the bedrock).

Is it just the biome you picked? Some biomes don't have trees
Edit: I tested it. I'm getting trees
In fact, I got a village. It was weird looking. LOL
Edit 2: Did you mean "The End" world type or did you somehow get it to generate a "Nether" world type?

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?

The same problem also seems to stop ice spikes from spawning and I assume a short list more than I am unaware of.
Considering it isn't an option the developers intended to be used at this time, it very well could just not work right
I know they didn't intend it that's why I'm looking for a solution.
