I have created my main base on a mushroom island, and was hoping there was an easy way to convert to the new Aquatic Update, but have the new oceans be present in my world as apposed the old boring ones. I've not I've not built much in the oceans, but like most I will probs do something in it when the new update comes out. Is this possible? To keep my old world base and all, but only change the oceans i have previously loaded in?
Do you see that there are some blank corners in the world? They are undiscovered Chunks. Those Chunks can be updated to the version in which you are playing.
Everything that is already there will not be updated but any new world generation will. So the answer to you question would depend on your world size. It might be possible to copy paste your base into a new world with MC-edit.
I could be wrong, because I have not used MC-Edit myself, but isn't it capable of 'deleting chunks'? Could it be possible to trim the existing world save by removing ocean chunks (assuming no important builds there) and then later upgrade that edited world save to 1.13 and the ocean chunks would re-generate in1.13?

I hadn't thought about that, maybe? I only used a few times.
