I know I do. Why did it take this long to add to the game? It takes this game for me from a solid 6 that I play once in a while to a 10/10 game IMHO. I just got done playing survival for 7 hours and it is totally sweet now. No more alt tabbing to find some obscure recipe! This is really awesome! The game is complete now IMHO. If they never added another thing I would be okay, if they do add more YAY. I just absolutely adore Minecraft always have, always will. This has been a long awaited fix for me. Thank you from the bottom of my fat gamer heart!

I also basically use it for bulk crafting - it's great for turning an inventory full of lapis (after using a fortune pick on several stacks of ore) into blocks with just a couple of clicks, for example. But for most things I just craft them the old-fashioned way, and if I'm not sure about a recipe I totally still look it up on the wiki.
Ha, ha ha Real die hards surely know all recipes from mind?
As someone who has played at least a few hours per week on average since Beta 1.3 or somewhere around there? Lol nope. I can do most but a lot of Redstone stuff and a bunch of the less common items I would have to look up.

Same, I agree though, this was an excellent change.

There is one God. The creator of the heavens and the earth, who sent his son down to earth to save us... he loves you and he's pursuing you. Return to him.
...yeah, I'm one of THOSE guys.

Is there a button to turn off the book from my inventory? I don't want to look at it because it goes against my Minecraft values.
don't click it then, play the game as normal. it is not hurting you by being there, it is not changing the game for you in any way and you can safely ignore it. They did not change crafting.
I've been using it to craft a stack of torches quickly in adventure maps. It's way faster to use two logs, shift click the sticks to make 16 from the 8 planks, and then shift click the torches and make a full stack.

Same here. When they first announced the new crafting UI, I thought, "Cool, I won't have to look up the recipes I almost never use." Never realized that it was going to speed up one of the easiest recipes that's pretty much impossible to forget.
Also helps with some recipes that are pretty simple, but very fussy about ingredients being in precise positions. Like wooden bowls, iron buckets, or glass bottles: those are easy to craft, but not easy to craft multiple items quickly. When I click and drag glass blocks in a V-shape, I pretty much always accidentally get an extra block or two in a wrong position. Not anymore. It's so much faster.
I'm right with you there on not needing to alt-tab. I just did this for making daylight sensors. I initially thought it would be more like the mod, where you have to craft a book in order for it to be considered the "crafting book", but having it built into the game is just as nice!
Eh im not the biggest fan of it since ive been playing since beta and it just puts me off, but i do see why people like it though so I'll just stick to playing 1.7.10 for now lol . But if you like it good for you! I'm not too bothered y it it just seems odd for me, I guess since its so different from what I'm used to in minecraft.
For me it's more time-saving than about not remembering recipies. As long as I know I have all the items needed in my inventory it's just quicker (A lot quicker), to just click on the block I need on the left-hand side recipe screen. So yes, I do find it very hand for that.

It's different and I'm getting use to it, but I like it.
