Summons a stream of fangs coming out of the floor, damaging mobs.
Has own sounds.
Spawns "vexes" described below.
Spawn in Woodland Mansions.
Drops Totem of Undying
Vex
Small, flying mobs.
Hostile towards the player.
Can fly through walls (noclip)
Has own sounds.
Spawn in Woodland Mansions.
Not only can this evil villager use his magical league of legends like single line attack, he can also summon a small army of ghost like creatures you can't run from.
This alone sounds quite terrifying and I'd like to know how this cast out wannabe villager managed to pull this off.
Cuz ya know, steve doesn't have a straight line linear magic attack that summons fangs from the ground to consume his opponents... lol.
How did this happen!? Baffled at the moment. I would go to say normal villagers don't like magic.
Maybe Villagers are the only ones who have magical abilities like that, or maybe Steve is just too busy mining and crafting to fuss about things like spells.

Now that spells have been brought to the table O.o ..... Whats going to happen....
I had to look for this quote on searge's twitter... But I have one of those vanilla magic feelings going on. 3 more updates away possibly?
Yea, those 1.11 features highlighted at Minecon are insane. I think what you have to remember though is that Steve the player isn't the same race as a villager, per se. It's possible that the race of villagers inherently possess magic abilities, but choose not to use them, which is where these "illagers" as Jeb called them stem from.
Aside from these cool new mobs, isn't anyone else super excited about the Shulker Box? My mind is already spinning with possible exploitation methods.

If you are complaining about 1.10 being too soon or too small, I recommend playing 1.9 until we release 1.14 to get the desired experience.
I don't think it is going to wind up in the player's hands any time soon. Searge's tweet is more poking fun at people who complain about update sizes and speeds, basically saying "It is what it is, if it is too small or too soon for your taste, just wait until you decide it has been long enough or enough updates have happened to be 'worth it' for you."

You may be right, its all in the magically imbued big noses. And that's why villagers were never given player models but instead had pig noses or were pigs.
Shulker box is my 3rd fav aside from the new projectile spit entity and the vex's.
There has got to be a back story to this evil wizard villager though, There's got to be.
Why was he cast out? Does he get his knowledge of spells from a book?
If so where does he hide it? This is where my head spins.
There is something illogically illogical that has been added instead of illogically logical which is reversed logic that is illogically logical.
Brain explosion.
Villagers seem to have a very shady....past? Story? Not sure what word to use. This was first implied by the igloos where they experimented with turning zombies back into villagers(or vice-versa) and also by witches.
Villagers have always been more advanced in enchanting then the player. They can enchant without enchanting table, they can spawn iron golems without building one and witches can brew potions without going to the Nether.
We don't know the complete past of those illagers yet; they have just been discovered. But the more we visit those houses, the more we will learn. For now there are a few theories possible:
They are undead villagers who are not infected by zombies, but by own enchanting experiments to regain life after death with a special Totem of Undying;
They are zombie infected villagers, put in quarantine, where the infection has reached the next state and where they try to cure themselves with the totem;
They are banned villagers because of greed and are therefore cursed to live as ghostlike creatures in a "gilded cage," trying to cure themselves with the totem.
Time and exploration will tell what the true secret is. But whatever it is, one thing is already sure: they are not going to reveal it by themselves...
Those villagers are such jerks.... casting out the zombie effected to find a cure on their own. Claiming them greedy for their attempts at life...
I enjoy the story so far this is going to be quite fun.
He's somewhat right. It doesn't fit anything else in the game. It's a brand new mechanic for just this mob.
That said, it didn't really strike me as weird or off for whatever reason.
I'm not certain if the teeth are actually box traps or not.
They look like box traps with mechanical teeth that close.
He may have a realm where he summons them from or something. It really doesn't look like he knows how to cast heavily "destructive" spells.
More so, has the ability to summon things from other dimensions/plain.
Like the vex.

No one thinks that Illagers are even slightly too exotic for Minecraft? I mean, it's a cool idea but I personally think that Minecraft is/was better as a low fantasy game. I will play 1.11 when it comes out though, despite my misgivings about it.

They're not that exotic. Maybe a little bit. But it's still a low fantasy game.
Back in June (I think) I remember when Searge said that 1.14 was going to be the "Desired Experience". So, from 1.10 to 1.14 we are bascically working through a compilation that will feed off of the preceeding update..to end at us getting the whole experience. So each will just build till we get to a point where everything make sense.. I can not imagine how fun this is going to be.. These updates are coming FAST, had it not been around the time for MineCon, I believe we would have seen 1.11 sooner rather than being the "Big Bang' AT MineCon. And I can imagine that the succession from 1.11 to 1.14 is going to be a lot of teasing until we can get the whole story worked out. Jeb was talking about the mobs, (at MIneCon reveal) being outcasts from the villages. And there were a few other hints at where they are going from here.... Still, has anyone wondered about the green villager who is new in our snapshits, nitwit, no one talked about him at MineCon..... We have basically 2 new villagers.. Nitwit, and the Evoker....Hmmm I see.....something in the works
Why indeed are villagers casting out one of their own....

I am ba-ack... looking for some fun in the future..with my mates!

Wait, let me get this straight... you think that outcast villagers that can: fly, summon little dagger things, summon other ghost things, and drop tomes of undying aren't very exotic?

Compared to shrubs that explode, aquatic beholders that shoot lasers, cows taken over by mushrooms, and basically everything in the End except the dragon?
Yeah, they aren't that exotic. Unless your definition of exotic is different from mine.
wow, lets see what kind of farming we can do with these...
YOU, the player) have to be the one that kills them in order to get the drops. But the amount of emeralds they drop certainly make this worth looking into as far as farming them goes.. The vindicator drops emeralds and axes, I haven't ascertained a good pattern to measure the drops by as my tests were not all that informational because 3 different tests gave me 3 different results that were very different..
the Evoker drops emeralds and the totem of undying..again, testing yielded inconsistent results..
the vex has a lil mini iron sword and will sometimes drop it and it becomes a regular iron sword.
I have got to do some more testing to see what kind durability they have left.. I literally forgot to check...
this is gonna be fun!!!
I guess too, on a different note, we now know what nitwit was... he's the cartographer.. and I don't n=know if its a bug or glitch or what but we can see he does now do trades and he has the title of cartographer as his profession but I can not get the trades to open up..
still trying!!!!!

I guess you could say that... but the totem of undying only works when its in the player's hands xD, maybe I'm catchin' on here too quick.

Clearly Steve chose one of those physical fighter classes.
Unrestricted access to all those weapons and armors, but completely inept at spellcasting.
