If you either enter in the command summon EnderDragon or use a command block with the same command, the Ender Dragon spawns but simply sits in one place and flaps his wings. I am not sure if this is a bug with 1.9 or if this was intentional. You are also not able to hurt the Ender Dragon, and he is unable to hurt you.
I played around with spawning in the dragon in various phases and while he at least flies around and attacks, he has no health bar and you can't kill him. Still at a loss on how I can get a portal to appear in the end
Anyone has any idea why they go towards 0/0 when they are spawned? Is there any way to prevent that and make them stay in the area attacking the player?
The dragon is now scripted to periodically perch on the end portal which is set to always be at 0,0 in the end. Scripting other behavior would require a mod. I'm actually not sure what it does anymore if you summon it in other dimensions. I'm assuming it would fly to 0,0 in those dimensions too.
I've been trying to use Dragon Phase. Works fine in 1.7.10 but has no effect in 1.9.2. You just get a floating invicible EnderDragon anyway in 1.9.2. (Just managed to get the flying one with no health bar on the unpteenth attempt in The End). Still can't get a normal one in 1.9.2.
MrAmericanMike the reason that the dragon spawns facing that direction is because that is the direction that all mobs are programmed to face when spawning try spawning some other mobs and you will see the results, also, the reason that the enderdragon does not move is because it has no AI try adding AI=true in your spawn command.
