I just decided to see what the update notes for 1.9 were and immediately saw this-

One of my favorite things about Mojang is their sense of humor.

Who said it was a joke? Do you know how many man-hours go into removing Herobrine? And still he, she or it manages to sneak back in!

The main point of trolling is to garner a reaction. If there is no reaction, the trolling will cease.

'Removed Herobrine' still gets players jumping for the bait like mackerel and so it will continue. Ad Infinitum.

Yeah, the "Remove Herobrine" joke is getting kind of old. Perhaps, in the next update, it should say something like "Removed Jesse" or something like that, just to garner a surprised reaction.

I'm in agreement with the majority here, this joke needs to die.

It's a shame too. Herobrine was a decent creepy pasta before he became an ungodly monstrosity.

I can say just one thing: They are joking with us, they want us to believe that there is something hidden in Minecraft world.

Honestly, Herobrine was KIND OF a cool thing at first. Back when the only evidence was some guy's post on reddit and a crappy screenshot from a faked livestream. The possibility of some extremely rare/mysterious entity that could be powerful or stalking you? Sign me up and give me the spooks.

Notch's dead brother or some other wild theory created by 'morons' (if that's the right word)? Jesus no, sign me out.

Now, the joke has been repeated constantly and only naive people actually believe it and scream about Herobrine when something has happened that they don't understand in-game. "My game glitched!!" "OMG HEROBRINE!" Ech.

Talk about beating a dead horse, or rather turning it into a mush at this point.

But hey, that's my opinion.

No doubt! It's definitely a nostalgic aspect, but it's become a bit much. Ya' know?

So many deleted posts. Huge number-skips randomly and I even got to view a deleted reply of mine.

My gosh! You are all so jaded! Until a few days ago I had no idea about Herobrine, I'm a long time newb of the game, been playing for years... But have never advanced far. Finding about Herobrine the other day captured my imagination, Minecraft has its own Urban Myth! Like the Batman of Gotham. I love it.

I think Mojang should keep up the in joke, for all those new players out there discovering the game for the first time, and coming across whispers of this mysterious figure that might or might not be in the game.

This joke is tradition! It doesn't need to be funny, it needs to be honored.

Besides, never forget that every day sees new people discovering Minecraft for the first time. Would you really want to leave them out of all the past Herobrine humor?

Still the joke is kind of getting old and I think that it should be something that needs to be put in the past.

Someone has Herobrine as user name.

Mojang should stop this joke.

When a new version is out, Herobrine is removed.

And Herobrine threads come out and the moderators have to lock/delete them.
