4 years ago, I started played MCPE/Minecraft in general. Now, I have MCPC, and I'm still not bored of the blocky sandbox indie. Cuz awesomeness! Got a problem with that?
Yes I do, but they still took half a year on that update.

Version 1.9 isn't out yet and you already think of version 1.10. My god.
Yes, because they're probably gonna take like two years to update.

Why is that a problem though? It's not like Minecraft is an unfinished game, it has been in release 1.0 for over 4 years now. I'm pretty sure 1.9 will be enjoyable without any updates to it. Honestly, we should be glad Mojang is even updating the game, as I'm sure it would still sell like crazy even if they didn't update it.
I am glad. I'm just trying to read other people's opinions to see what they think.
And while the game is considered complete, in reality, it's not. Even the wiki says that.

I don't know why people feel the need to rely on good old wiki to try their point. Fact is, nothing much is ever complete. When builders finish constructing a house, the initial layout may be done, but later a new carpet may be laid or an extension added. And when an artist draws a picture, they could spend the rest of their lives working on that one piece, adding some shading here or adding more detail over there, but it is truly never finished.... In the end, it is up to the creator, whether it be of art or of a game, to sit back and say; "Yeah... I'm done here."
When will they release the first snapshot of 1.10? When they do, and I'm personally not phased by when that is. Maybe we could actually play 1.9 for a while, then start wriggling in our seats about further updates.
Yeah but I wanna see the snapshot later this year at least.

It will be at least 5 months before we even hear ANY real news about 1.10, And near the end of the year before the idea of a snapshot is even mentioned.
1.10 will probably be the fabled Mod-Support update if the tease of the block-id change is anything to go by.
It will likely also be the last major patch we will see for the PC Java version of Minecraft, Before all the dev work is directed at the Win10 version.

1.1 was released 2 months later in January of 2012,
1.2 was released 2 months later in March,
1.3 was released 5 months later in August,
1.4 was released 2 months later in October,
1.5 was released 5 months later in March of 2013,
1.6 was released 4 months later in July,
1.7 was released 3 months later in October,
1.8 was released 11 months later in September of 2014,
and 1.9 is scheduled to release next Thursday, 17 months after 1.8.
Up until 2014, MC updates had a pretty predictable development period, ranging between 2-5 months. Why in the last 2 years has it jumped to more than 2-3 times that? It seems like they are trying to pack too much into each update, and it drags out to insane amounts of time.
Considering the recent trend, I'd assume that if 1.10 will be another huge update, we can expect its official release by early 2018.
If it's somehow a smaller update, we can plan on later this year.
Also, I'd like to ask, what's with the Minecraft developers 'taking a break' after the release of major updates? It's their job isn't it?

Technically no. They can do whatever they want with the game. They are not obligated to give us anymore updates. Plus developing a game almost non-stop is a pretty hefty job, so it would make sense for them to give themselves breaks. Normal jobs usually give you vacation time you can use whenever you want, (Limits and qualifications to those vacations differ greatly between companies) so why is it different here?
Here's another example, just for fun. Let's say you and a group of people are going to do some cliche heist. That's a pretty big challenge, and tiring, so of course after you've successfully went through your heist, what are you going to do next? Take a break with what you got, or instantly perform another one? Most likely the former. You're tired out from the stress of the first one, plus you'd need to plan your next one either way... Soo...
As for the topic, I doubt there's a trend, but the earliest I feel we can expect anything would be later on in the year.
1.10? Geez, hold your horses dude. 1.9 isn't even released yet and you already want 1.10 snapshots?! There won't be any snapshots before later parts of the year, if at all this year.
It will likely also be the last major patch we will see for the PC Java version of Minecraft, Before all the dev work is directed at the Win10 version.
First post to the forums and already assuming something that isn't going to happen in a long time. You haven't bothered to check how far away the Win 10 edition is from the Java version? There's alot of things they need to add to it before they are going to abandon the Java (PC) version of the game. And even then, they won't be abandoning the Java version. Why? Mac and Linux users. Win 10 edition can't be used in those platforms, so they won't be abandoning the Java edition. Microsoft wants money and abandoning Java version isn't good for business. Win 10 edition is not going to replace Java edition.
The far future update: 1.10. When do you think its first snapshot will be released? Personally, I'm assuming it will be within the next month.
Wow, a lot of you said next year.

quite delusional if you ask me
What are you basing that on?
I don't know.. I think next year
Yes I do, but they still took half a year on that update.

March 2018 is my guess. Getting a snapshot that soon isn't going to happen, guaranteed.
The devs said they would be taking a break from big updates, if I remember.
So the answer is, no, 1.10 will not be developed anytime soon.

An example of MC's growing update infrequency:
1.0 was released in November of 2011,
1.1 was released 2 months later in January of 2012,

1.3 was released 5 months later in August,

They should rid all the glitches before they're working on 1.10.

It will be released at the same time as Half Life 3.
