Runescape's combat system was the whole basis of why rs 2 was so amazing. EOC just made it more like any average MMORPG.
And now you can revert to the same combat system for only minor penalties...?
Runescape's combat system was simple. That makes it not necessarily bad, since it doesn't take much away from the game and its various minigames/quests/attractions, but definitely not good, since it adds almost nothing.
I mean, left-click the enemy to start and then occasionally left-click fish if you're against a bot is not strategically interesting.
As it is, yes, I do indeed really like the changes. But with some tweaks, I think it can be fantastic. And hopefully even more brand-new changes to combat.
I doubt you ever used techniques in rs combat like the quickswitch-spec or whatever. and also the legacy mode is just different enough just for me to not like it, along with a few million other players. Runescape is only filled with high level players and newbies, all of the community that made the game alive just got up and left.
And this is completely out of scope from the original topic. but me and a few million players can agree that jagex ruined runescape. They also ruined ace of spades.
we can't be sure if the 1.9 will be the best or worst update so far util be officially release and the main reason(maybe the only one) of discussion of the 1.9 are the combat changes in my opinion they are horrible(not all) the axes and shovels are op, the cooldown is making a simple thing complicate and i think that 1.9 will make more people use hacks in pvp
There are not new axes. There is not any new tools, weapons, or armor for that matter. All they did was change the way axes behaived in combat. In fact, people already used axes for fighting years ago!
I'll admit that the new enderdragon boss battle is cooler now, but I still think that it should have remained console exclusive. In my opinion, the structure of the end cities are undesirable (why purpur?!) and the lingering potions weren't needed. Though I think that only banners should have been the customizable items, I think that the shield is something that we needed for a long time. The new weapon mechanics aren't too bad, but it's a distraction and will also put an end to pvp servers. As with the end gate, I think that it shouldn't have been added, and that the end cities should have been vaguely visible from the mainland. Overall, the update makes me feel happy for the other Minecrafters, but I think I'll stay here in 1.8.
I think 1.9 a good update for people that play minecraft legit. The community of hackers will only get bigger from 1.8 to 1.9 though because it is only a matter of time before someone makes an "Anti weapon cooldown" hack. When hackers find out about that and use it with kill aura then minecraft pvp will just be the same as before. People already use axes for combat for mcMMO so the axes wont change much. I will still use a sharp V hoe though.

only think i dont like for the 1.9 update is the golden apple nerf
i dont mind notch apple been nerfed but the normal apple was just fine as it was
According to DocM33's latest snapshot video, Mojang has said they will change the golden apple back to 2 hearts - just didn't get to it for this snapshot. Don't know about the Notch Apple. I thought the nerf was a bit silly - I've rarely seen people use farmed gold for golden apples. By the time you have the resources for a gold farm, you are likely brewing healing potions, which are much more effective for a lot less gold. Indeed - really the only time I see golden apples used is in UHC games and competitions. In survival, though, about the only time I've used them is as emergency healing when going after my first blaze rods. In my opinion, there wasn't enough abuse of the gold farm/golden apple to warrant nerfing them.
1.9 for me is going to be better for combat and added content.
Combat in minecraft is sluggish and the way PVP works is just how fast you can click or how better geared you are.
The End needed an overhaul in both the dragons AI, the overall fight, and of course the massive size expansion with as well the new plant, structure, mob and blocks.
Farmers of the game are going to enjoy the beatroot plant and of course courus fruit and plant. This is a great way to use endstone which also can now be made in to bricks
And finally the duel wielding, shield, arrows, potions and mob mechanics.
So yeah, if I missed anything reply.
I agree with you that 1.9 will be for the better. Dinnerbone has a lot of experience with the Minecraft community. On Twitter, he stated that he remembered how some of us first reacted to sprinting from Beta 1.8. The responses to combat in Minecraft 1.9 is comparable to that same uproar four years ago.
A few weeks ago, I tried to explain this cultural phenomenon in another thread, but I now think I went too far and deep. So, I want to just summarize it to you and other readers:
Changes, like the ones to combat in 1.9, can be mentally difficult for people to adjust to. Once they pass, there's relief.^_^
I personaly do not like this update. It kinda ruins the PvP community. I bet that the most famous PvP servers will say on 1.8 or even better on 1.7.
Servers have the option to use Vanilla Commands to turn off unwanted combat changes from 1.9. The attack speed on melee weapons is configurable through commands. So, servers can run on 1.9 and let players still effectively spam-click with melee weapons, as they did before. I think Hypixel would be find updating to 1.9. The server already uses command blocks a lot, and the additions Searge has done to them will end up making their games more resource efficient. Plus, the Hypixel Build Team has some new building blocks to design new arenas with.

Overall, 1.9 was a letdown in my opinion,
Pros:
-Shields
-Attack speeds
-Skeletal horse are finally being used
-Command blocks that makes map-making much easier
-New End
-More potions
-Finally a horizontal pole like object is added
Cons:
-Golden apples and Enchanted Golden apples aren't good anymore, and it is completely pointless to spend your gold on them
-Armour was nerfed and hence it sucks now
-Dual wielding is lame because you only can put "right-clickable" items in that slot
-The Ender dragon battle wasn't as intensified as I hoped it would be
Furthermore, for those people who keep saying, "People who don't like the cooldown system are only people who have no skills and only know how to spam click". Then my question to you is, don't you do that too? Unless you just bought minecraft when 1.9 came out, then you have no excuse to say that you have never spam clicked when you play minecraft. Everyone does that because it was the best way to kill Pre-1.9, just embrace the spam clicking before it's gone.
Also, why is Mojang so obsessed with mobs getting struck by lightning?
DUCK JOKE TIME!
What do you call it when you get kidnapped by ducks? AB-DUCK-TED
A duck walks into a bar, orders a beer, and says, PUT IT ON MY BILL.
Who stole the soap? A ROBBER DUCKY! Where did the duck go when he got sick? THE DUCKTOR'S OFFICE!
Last one! A man walks into a bar. He asks for some wine and a cracker. The waiter comes back with a glass of wine with a duck in it.
The man asks, why is there a duck in my soup? The waiter says, YOU ASKED FOR A QUACKER!
Too many duck jokes.
A wise man once told me, if one tells you a joke and you laugh until you're sides hurt, he might betray you in the future.
No one likes change, but change is usually for the better. Unless its Jagex doing it, in which case change is bad (R.I.P Runescape 2012)
Runescape's combat always sucked.
But that update was a slight improvement.
Spears, Daggers, and Hammers for 1.9
Why would we not be excited? New features for survival is always a good thing. Normally such content is very rare.
Figured it was time for a change.
The End expansion is good enough for me.
Especially those Chorus Fruits.
Mmm, that delicious short-distance random teleportation.

The new axes are worth it.

So basically, I'm stupid.

The new axe stats is what he meant.
