I don't get how running away is overpowered.
It serves no advantage, it harms no thing, it doesn't give you anything special, it's exactly what it is-
running away.
As for difficulty, everything is already effected by difficulty, so why would 1.9 need to fullfill this role?
The only thing I believe isn't effected by difficulty is Shulkers (With the exception of peaceful in which they ignore players) and that's just more likely an oversight.
And item nerfs are different than difficulty. That's a poor way to execute difficulty (And a poor excuse to bring back items the way they were before, just deal with it.) It would also completely remove the purpose of many things they added. Removing cooldown on easier difficulties is pointless. Un-nerfing pretty much overpowered items is pointless. Difficulty changes mobs to make them harder, not effect the player difficulty or outright remove features. That's just not exactly how it works.
i have not heard of all the new PVP stuff. how is it bad?
Most of it seems to be because people think attack cooldowns will ruin PvP forever. That is, you must wait about 0.6 to regain full attack strength (You can still attack, but at a lower attack damage). Considering there was always a 0.5 second invincibility time for everything you hit, it's not much of a change.
Also, lots of people are just mad about nerfs, specifically Enchanted Golden apples, which have been nerfed so you are no longer a god/dess after eating one, and they are no longer craftable, but rather you can find them. Fewer are also angry that strength was nerfed to adding 3 flat damage (6 for strength II) instead of nearly doubling your attack damage.
There are more reasons, both valid, and just not sounding right, but those seem to be the major reason why people think "1.9 is the end of the (Minecraft) world!!!!1!!1!" and "The combat update will ruin/is the end of Minecraft"
im pretty sure that no body likes the new pvp system, i mean the cons outdo the pros about 3 times over. Although it will stop many h, on servers, just stand in one spot and spam the hit button at people.
One of the worst things is no more notch apples (RIP)
hey somebody make a forums signature for that (RIP notch apples)

If you'd look around, a majority is loving the update, and if that's not enough, I love it, so somebody is loving the update (That also means there's almost 100% chance that there's more that love it, too! <3)
I'm sorry if you, yourself don't like it, along with maybe a couple of friends, however that doesn't mean everyone thinks this way.

Already covered that. Not in full detail, but I am aware there are other reasons.
Who cares if spam clicking requires skill or not? The update means fights take longer and will get boring.
God apples are not unbalanced, there's nothing wrong with being able to craft OP items, strength would make it unbalanced!
Idc if a sharpness 5 diamond sword could 1 hit KO or not.
It's a good thing infinity doesn't work with potion arrows.
Based on your reply, it seems that you don't like to use skill, and need OP items just to win a fight. Also, new skills and strats are going to be created in 1.9, so those longer fights may actually be interesting when someone uses a new strategy.
I find myself taking the same amount of time fighting mobs as I did pre-1.9, and as a bonus, I'm actually paying attention instead of mindlessly clicking a button. You have to (That's a lie, you don't have to, but that's how long you have to wait for your full damage) wait 0.1 seconds more than you had to pre-1.9 to attack something again, that's 0.6 seconds from 1.8-'s 0.5 second delay. So if waiting 0.1 seconds more really makes PvP so boring that it ruins it, you guys certainly are an interesting handful, I can tell you that much.
But also consider this: Armor nerfs. Meaning it will take less hits to kill a player, thus making battles quick (You guys liked quick battles, right?... Can't really complain there). Think about it. Pre-1.9 diamond swords themselves only did 1/2 heart of damage to fully equipped diamond armored players, and that's not even counting enchantments. So those battles lasted quite a while, as long as two unarmored players punching each other to death.
1.9 nerfs armor, meaning, again, it takes less hits to kill a player, as they take a bit more damage, so that means fights between two diamond armored players should be quicker, as it takes less hits, even if you have to wait 0.1 seconds more between each hit. So, in all, fights in 1.9 should take the same amount of time, or less than fights pre-1.9. And even if it did take longer, only slightly longer, 0.3 seconds longer if it takes 3 hits to kill something, which is true for most mobs with a diamond sword.
Basically 1.9 ruins pvp that most good pvpers already hate

1:05 no, it will not, you are losing about .1 seconds for when you can attack
1:20 *cough* plugins *cough*
1:26 no, they did not, at least in the way he used it, there is a small delay between activating you shed and gaining the defense from it. (crap, accidentaly pressed reply)and when would you need to block a cow?
2:00 to late
2:10, no, you not mention the fishing rods and no, they have been fixed, they no longer knock back, but allow you to catch fleeing players
2:20 because they can be usefull
2:25 no, it's not stupid
2:30 1.9 is he combat update, not spasificly the PvP update
2:58 no idea what you're talking about, they are fixed.

This argument has been brought up multiple times, and seems to be the most common argument against 1.9, but at the same time there has been tons more valid counter-arguments towards this, to where it's mostly a moot point as of now.
The removal of spamclicking isn't ruining PvP. Just get used to it. It's not that bad.
PvP shouldn't revolve around a single.. *ahem* 'skill', Jitterclicking, and to those who state pre-1.9 PvP doesn't revolve around just that, (Excluding armor) the user who posted the video even indirectly stated that he feels that it should determine the winner of PvP matches, he states that it's bad to time your clicks and aim. PvP, I feel should revolve around a multitude of tactics and skills. I don't count strafing, etc. as a skill, as those are more reflexes then anything. If I'm getting attacks, I'm going to try to move out of the way, i.e: left or right.
Basically 1.9 ruins pvp that most good pvpers already hate

Alright, let's see this.
1:06: They do realize that any mob you hit is immune from damage for .5 seconds, so jitterclicking and the like don't actually do anything?
1:11: If it's killing off forms of combat that take little skill, isn't that a good thing?
1:15: It's not the PvP update anyways, so your inability to take a .1 second extra wait into account is not really a priority.
1:47: Again, .5-second damage immunity. There was never really a point to block-hitting.
2:00: Too emotional. Make a rationality-based argument, not an emotionally-based one.
2:25: The spectral arrow allows you to find anyone you hit even if they run and hide. I can't believe that anyone with any idea of how tactics work would fail to see what these are for. Therefore, I don't believe they have any idea of how tactics work.
2:34: They talked about how two forms of fighting (jitterclicking and block-hitting) no longer worked (though they never worked), and then said that spectral arrows were stupid. They didn't say why these were bad. And so I can only say that saying PvP is ruined for... no real argument at all is not convincing whatsoever.
3:10: Okay. PvP has become more about thinking and less about moving your finger muscle as fast as possible.
4 years ago, I started played MCPE/Minecraft in general. Now, I have MCPC, and I'm still not bored of the blocky sandbox indie. Cuz awesomeness! Got a problem with that?
That is not completely true. Because if you spamclick, the mob will only get damage every 0.5 seconds indeed, but it does get full damage everytime. However, if you spamclick in 1.9, the mobs will only get a little bit damage and not the full damage every 0.5 seconds. Because for full damage, you actually have to wait before the weapon is fully charged.
If you suddenly face a creeper in front of you, you can now save yourself by spamclicking as fast as you can. With a good sword, the creeper can be killed in one second, just before he was about to explode. In 1.9, you have to suppress that reflex, because spamclicking does way too less damage for that. The creeper will explode.
I think the point that he was trying to make was trying to jitterclick as fast as possible was pointless anyways, even without the new cooldown, as there was always a .5 second cool down, meaning all those clicks did nothing either way.
That's my guess, anyways.

Precisely. It's now like... 1/10 seconds longer that you'd have to wait. Oh no!

It changes strategies and not everybody is adaptable. I've had to change my strategy quite a bit as I've played with the snapshots. Overall it's still improving.
