Here's a tip for all the people making resource packs for Minecraft:
You might want to wait until 1.9 is released, because developers have hinted that the GUI will change dramatically in the next update.
I was making a resource pack for Minecraft, and it was coming together pretty well. But then I watched several youtube videos about the 1.9 Combat Update. In one of them, a developer announced that some major changes were being made to the creative inventory, (such as a better system to search for items) and advised people not to do the GUI just yet. My guess is that the next Minecraft update will be a snapshot of 1.9, because it's been a while since 1.8.7 was released. I decided not to change the inventory, and wait for the updates to come rolling in. After all, there will be new blocks and items added as well. Have any thoughts about the changes coming to our inventory?
You don't have to wait until 1.9 to start the pack from scratch. You can do most of it now and start/redo the GUI when 1.9 or 1.9 snapshots are released.
Also can you link me to where they say they will be changing the creative inventory?
The only thing I see is changing it to have the off-hand slot.
i mean that the snap shot will come out first and the 1.9 release could be months away and the first snap shot might not have all of the GUI stuff might ready

They might not release snapshots, they could surprise us.

Well, I'm eager for your resource pack and a snapshot for 1.9!
I don't think you need to necessarily wait till 1.9 for it's a long way's a way. So I would suggest you just develop it, and finish it so that others can enjoy it while in 1.8. Then when 1.9 comes along just make the tweaks to it.

I would be in shock if they just put out full 1.9
They wouldn't, or else 1.9 would be full of bugs.
Some people are speculating them announcing it at MineCon this week.
I doubt the full version of 1.9 will be out any time soon, but I feel like a snapshot might be around the corner in the next few months...
I'm just waiting as a precaution.
Full 1.9 is probably still a long ways away from us. Sadly, it seems the same way for snapshots too.
Aren't updates already full of bugs

Hi. You're looking at the signature of a user that has pretty much quit Minecraft, but I might still be lurking. You can take a look if you want.
